Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for Walt Disney Pictures’ 1980 family adventure The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark directed by Charles Jarrott and starring Elliott Gould, Genevieve Bujold and Ricky Schroder. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Maurice Jarre. The release features the complete score, as well as a number of unused cues. John Williams to Receive Classic Brit Award

John Williams will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Classic Brit Awards. The composer who celebrated his 80th birthday this year will be the first film composer to receive the lifetime achievement award in the award ceremony’s 13-year history. The full list of nominations will be announced on September 6 and the award ceremony will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on October 2, 2012. Henry Jackman is currently recording his score for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Wreck-It-Ralph. The film is directed by Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) and follows the behind-the-scenes lives of vintage arcade game characters. The movie’s voice talent include John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch. Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids) and Jennifer Lee have written the screenplay and Clark Spencer (Bolt, Lilo & Stitch) is producing the project. The track list for the soundtrack album of the coming-of-age drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been revealed. The album features one track from the film’s score composed by Michael Brook (The Fighter, Into the Wild), as well as the songs featured in the film by artists including The Samples, The Smiths, Cracker, Sonic Youth, Dexys Midnight Runners, The Innocence Mission and David Bowie. The soundtrack will be released on September 18, 2012 by Atlantic Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC original series Dancing on the Edge. The five-part series is written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff (The Lost Prince, Shooting The Past) and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Wunmi Mosaku, Angel Coulby and John Goodman. The dramatic comedy follows the Louis Lester Band as they find fame amongst the parties and performances of upper class society in the capital. Lionsgate Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Possession. The album features the film’s original music composed by Anton Sanko (Rabbit Hole, Big Love). Bruce Hornsby to Score Spike Lee’s ‘Old Boy’

According to the LA Times, Bruce Hornsby is set to score Spike Lee’s upcoming English-language remake of Old Boy. The film is based on the critically acclaimed Korean film directed by Chan-wook Park. Josh Brolin is set to star as a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years for unknown reasons and sets out to find out who held him hostage and why when he is inexplicably released. Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharlto Copley (District 9) are also attached to star in the Mandate Pictures production. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell) has written the script and is co-producing the project, while Roy Lee and Doug Davison (The Strangers, The Lake House) are producing. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action film sequel The Expendables 2 directed by Simon West and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler who previously scored the 2010 original film. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Tyler’s music. Also opening wide is the stop-motion animated film ParaNorman directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler and featuring the voice talent of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Pale Blue Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for last year’s thriller The Entitled. The album features the film’s original score composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Terriers, The Unit). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 19, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. The Entitled is directed by Aaron Woodley and stars Kevin Zegers, Ray Liotta, Victor Garber, Laura Vandervoort, Dustin Milligan and Devon Bostick.
