La-La Land Records has released two new limited editions of Jerry Goldsmith scores from the 90’s. First up is the release of the expanded score for the 1992 romantic fantasy Forever Young. The album is limited to 3000 copies and features almost 75 minutes of Goldsmith’s score, including a significant amount of previously unreleased music. ‘Real Steel’ Soundtrack Details

The details for the soundtrack album for Real Steel have been revealed. The soundtrack will be released on October 4, 2011 by Interscope Records. The album features one track from the score by Danny Elfman, as well as several songs from the movie. Artists featured on the release are Bad Meets Evil, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, 50 Cent, Eminem, Prodigy & Tom Morello, Limp Bizkit and Alexi Murdoch. Rupert Gregson-Williams is the composer of the upcoming action comedy Here Comes the Boom. The film starring Kevin James, Henry Winkler, Salma Hayek and Charice centers on a teacher who moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter in order to save his school’s music program. The movie is directed by Frank Coraci who has previously worked with Gregson-Williams on the 2006 comedy Click and this summer’s Zookeeper. Kevin James and Allan Loeb (21, The Dilemma) wrote the project’s screenplay and James is also producing with Todd Garner (Knight and Day, Paul Blart: Mall Cop. ‘The Thing’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the horror thriller The Thing. The album includes the original score by Marco Beltrami. The soundtrack will be released on October 11, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. The Thing directed by Matthijs van Heijingen Jr. and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen and Joel Edgerton is a prequel to the 1982 classic directed by John Carpenter. Marcelo Zarvos has recently scored the comedy Friends with Kids. The movie marks the directorial debut of actress/writer Jennifer Westfeldt who also wrote the project’s screenplay. Zarvos previously scored the 2001 indie comedy Kissing Jessica Stein, which was written and produced by Westfeldt who also played the main character in the film. Friends with Kids stars Westfeldt, Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd, Megan Fox and Edward Burns. iZLER to Score ABC’s ‘Revenge’

iZLER is scoring the new ABC drama Revenge. The show starring Emily VanCamp, Madeleine Stowe, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny, Connor Paolo, Ashley Madekwe and Nick Wechsler centers on a mysterious woman who arrives in the Hamptons seeking revenge on the people who destroyed her family. The series created by Mike Kelley (Swingtown) is loosely based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo. Phillip Noyce (Salt, The Bone Collector) directed the pilot and is executive producing the project with Kelley, Marty Bowen (Dear John) and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight, I Robot). iZLER has recently been nominated for a World Soundtrack Award in the Discovery of the Year category for his scores for the  biopic Hamill and the comedy Natural Selection. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the thriller Contagion directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Ehle, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Cranston and John Hawkes. The film’s music is composed by Cliff Martinez. A soundtrack album featuring the score by Martinez has been released by Watertower Music. Also opening wide is the drama Warrior directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich. The movie’s score is written by Mark Isham. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album including Isham’s score, as well as a song by The National. The digital release is already out and a CD version will be released next Tuesday. ‘Dream House’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced a score album for the romantic comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It. The score is composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, John Q, the Sex and the City movies). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 20, 2011 and a CD is coming out on October 18. Check back for audio clips to be added to this article within the next two weeks.
