Joe Kraemer is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming thriller Jack Reacher. The film is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Werner Herzog, David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall. The movie is based on the novel One Shot written Lee Child and follows the military policeman-turned-drifter Jack Reacher, who gets sucked into the mystery surrounding the arrest of a sniper accused of killing five random people in a shooting. Cruise is also producing the Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions film with Paula Wagner (The Last Samurai, Mission: Impossible), Don Granger (Snakes on a Plane) and Gary Levinsohn (Saving Private Ryan). The details for the soundtrack album for the dance movie Step Up Revolution have been revealed. The album features the songs featured in the film by artists including Travis Parker, Timbaland, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, M.I.A., Far East Movement, Sohanny and Vein, Diplo and My Name is Kay. The soundtrack will be released on July 17, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all 13 tracks on the release can be checked out here. New Soundtrack Editions for ‘X2’ and ‘The Phantom’ Announced

La-La Land Records has announced its 2012 Comic-Con titles. The four world premiere limited edition soundtrack CDs include Bryan Singer’s X-Men sequel X2 (X-Men United). The 2 CD-set features the expanded score from the film composed by John Ottman, including over 50 minutes of previously unreleased music. Also coming out is the expanded score for the 1996 film adaptation of The Phantom starring Billy Zane, Kristy Swanson, Treat Williams and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Panelists will discuss how these dynamic partnerships work and how a singer’s voice can amplify an original score. Panelists include composers Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the upcoming Last Resort), Trevor Morris (Immortals, The Borgias, The Tudors) and Danny Jacob (Disney’s Phineas and Ferb, the Lilo and Stitch TV series), as well as singers Lisbeth Scott (True Blood, Avatar, Iron Man 2) and Laura Dickinson (Phineas and Ferb, Universal Pictures’ upcoming Pitch Perfect). The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted its 27th Annual Film & Television Music Awards last Thursday night, June 28, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The awards celebration honored composers of the top box office film music, the most performed television music and the top video game music of 2011. The honorees included composers Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, John Powell, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Carter Burwell, Trent Reznor and Patrick Doyle. The film is written and directed by Josh Boone and stars Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly, Lily Collins, Kristen Bell, Logan Lerman, Nat Wolff, Liana Liberato, Rusty Joiner and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The movie explores the complicated relationships between a successful novelist, his ex-wife and their collegiate daughter and teenage son. ‘Sparkle’ Soundtrack Details

RCA Records has revealed the details of the soundtrack release for the upcoming musical drama Sparkle. The album features recorded performances from the late Whitney Houston, as well as tracks from Jordin Sparks and CeeLo Green including I’m A Man, Hooked On Your Love and Look Into Your Heart. Also included on the album is the first single Celebrate produced by R. Kelly featuring Sparks and Houston (check out the music video after the jump). The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sparkle directed by Salim Akil (Jumping The Broom, Soul Food) stars Jordin Sparks, Whitney Houston, Derek Luke, Mike Epps and CeeLo Green. Copticon Music has released soundtrack album for the documentary Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nathan Halpern. Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present directed by Matthew Akers follows the life of the controversial, transgressive performance artist through to her headline-grabbing MOMA retrospective in 2010. William Ross Scoring Lifetime’s ‘Steel Magnolias’

William Ross has recently recorded his music for the Lifetime drama Steel Magnolias. The film is a remake of the 1989 feature written by Robert Harling, directed by Herbert Ross and starring Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine and Julia Roberts. The movie follows the lives and friendship of six Louisiana-based women who congregate regularly at Truvy’s beauty shop and stars Queen Latifah as M’Lynn, Alfre Woodard as Ouiser, Phylicia Rashad as Clairee, Jill Scott as Truvy, Adepero Oduye as Annelle and Condola Rashad as Shelby.
