Premiering tomorrow, September 16, on Fox is the new mystery adventure drama Sleepy Hollow created by Alex Kurtzman & Bob Orci (Star Trek, Transformers), Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) & Phillip Iscove and starring Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, John Cho and Katia Winter. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast Five, Now You See Me) is composing the score for the series, which is based on The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s Detective Abbie Archer to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. Edward Shearmur to Score ‘Before I Go to Sleep’

Edward Shearmur has been hired to score the upcoming mystery thriller Before I Go to Sleep. The film is written and directed by Rowan Joffe (Brighton Rock, screenwriter of The American and 28 Weeks Later) and stars Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Anne-Marie Duff. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by S.J. Watson of the same title and follows a woman with amnesia who wakes every day with no knowledge of who she is as a result a traumatic accident in her past and must reconstruct her memories from a journal she keeps. Ridley Scott & Liza Marshall (Life in a Day) and Mark Gill (Law Abiding Citzen, Olympus Has Fallen) are producing the Scott Free and Millennium Films production. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the box office is the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 2 directed by James Wan and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Wannell and Barbara Hershey. The film’s original score is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Dark Skies). Void Recordings has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD and Vinyl version is set to come out next month. Check out our previous article for the full album details and audio clips. Also opening wide is the crime comedy The Family directed by Luc Besson and starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones and Dianna Agron. The film’s original music is composed by Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the songs from the film, including New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down by LCD Soundsystem, Me and My Baby by Don Cavalli and Doce Doce by Fred Bongusto. Heitor Pereira to Score ‘Minions’ Movie

Heitor Pereira is set to score Universal Pictures’ & Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming animated feature Minions. The film is a spin-off of the hit animated franchise Despicable Me and has been described as an origin story, which establishes that Minions have existed since the beginning of time, in service of history’s most ambitiously evil villains. Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlet Overkill, a stylish super-villain who is bent on world domination and Jon Hamm will lend his voice to her husband, the inventor Herb Overkill. Pierre Coffin who directed both Despicable Me and its sequel is directing the project with Kyle Balda (The Lorax) and Brian Lynch (Puss in Boots, Hop) has written the screenplay. ‘Muscle Shoals’ Soundtrack Announced

Republic Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Muscle Shoals. The album includes the songs featured in the film by Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alicia Keys, Paul Simon, Etta James, Jimmy Hughes, Percy Sledge, and more. The soundtrack will be released physically and digitally on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Muscle Shoals is directed by Greg “Freddy” Camalier and tells the story of FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, also known as the birthplace of some of rock ‘n’ roll’s and soul’s most iconic songs, located in Muscle Shoals, AL. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Magnolia Pictures for a domestic release on September 27, 2013, both in theaters and on VOD. Clint Mansell to Score ‘The Imitation Game’

Clint Mansell is attached to score the upcoming indie drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters, Buddy) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II, helping the Allies to victory. Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance are co-starring. Graham Moore has written the screenplay based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. ‘Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers’ Soundtrack Details

30 IPS will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Simon Russell. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 7, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers is directed by Havana Marking and centers around the Pink Panthers, the formidable Balkan gang that has stolen nearly a billion dollars worth of jewels from boutiques in the world’s most opulent cities, including Geneva, Paris, London, Dubai and Tokyo. Nathan Furst Scoring ‘Need for Speed’

Nathan Furst is currently scoring the upcoming racing action movie Need for Speed. The film directed by Scott Waugh is based on the Electronic Arts video game franchise and follows an underground racecar driver who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing and is framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race. The movie stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton, Imogen Poots, Kid Cudi, Dakota Johnson, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malik and Harrison Gilbertson. George Gatins has written the screenplay based on an original story he developed with John Gatins (Flight, Real Steel) who is also producing the DreamWorks Pictures production with Patrick O’Brien and Mark Sourian. ‘Rock the Casbah’ Soundtrack Released

Pathé Production has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan drama Rock the Casbah. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Populaire, Alexandre Aja’s upcoming Horns). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Rock the Casbah is written and directed by Laila Marrakchi and stars Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Lubna Azabal, Morjana Alaoui and Omar Sharif. The movie is set in an opulent villa in Tangiers and unfolds over the three days of the rites of mourning dictated by Muslim custom, following the death of a prominent magnate and family patriarch. Rob Lane to Score Discovery Channel’s ‘Klondike’

Rob Lane has been hired to score the upcoming mini-series Klondike. The television event marks Discovery Channel’s first scripted project and stars Sam Shepard, Richard Madden, Abbie Cornish, Ian Hart, Johnny Simmons, Conor Leslie, Tim Roth, Augustus Prew, Marton Csokas and Tim Blake Nelson. The series is based on the novel Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich In The Klondike by Charlotte Gray and tells the story of six strangers and their collective fight for survival and wealth in a small frontier town in the remote Klondike.
