DMG TV will release a new soundtrack album for the BBC original series Call the Midwife. The Christmas Album features music from the show’s 2012 and 2013 Christmas specials, including a cast recording of the Nat ‘King’ Cole classic song When I Fall in Love performed by Laura Main and Stephen McGann, as well as tracks by Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Harry Belafonte, Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Brenda Lee and Johnny Mathis with Percy Faith and His Orchestra Also included are selections from the series’ score composed by Peter Salem. Mark Kilian to Score ‘Revenge of the Green Dragons’

Mark Kilian has been hired to score the upcoming action crime thriller Revenge of the Green Dragons. The film is directed by Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs series, Initial D – Drift Racer) and Andrew Loo and stars Ray Liotta, Justin Chon, Harry Shum Jr., Kevin Wu and Billy Magnussen. The movie is set in New York and follows two immigrants fighting their way up the Green Dragons gang, and then their struggle to confront their former associates after one of them is cast beyond the pale for his trysts with his clan chieftain. Michael Di Jiacomo has written the film’s screenplay. Stuart Ford & Allen Bain are producing the project for IM Global, as well as Ara Katz (Diary of the Dead) and Jesse Scolaro. Martin Scorsese who directed the Academy Award-winning thriller The Departed based on Lau’s Infernal Affairs serves as an executive producer. Read the rest of this entry »

Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel Ender’s Game directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford. Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series, Battleship) has composed the film’s original score. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. The film’s original music is composed by Dominic Lewis. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as two songs by Social Distortion and MattyBRaps. Dave Porter Takes Over Scoring Duties on NBC’s ‘The Blacklist’

Dave Porter has taken over scoring duties on the NBC hit drama The Blacklist. The show is created by Jon Blokenkamp and stars James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix and Parminder Nagra. The series follows an ex-government agent on the FBI’s most wanted list who surrenders with an offer to catch the most wanted terrorists. Bokenkamp (Taking Lives) is also executive producing the Davis Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television production with John Eisendrath (Alias, Felicity), John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, Waterworld), John Fox (Ironside) and Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, Narc). Entertainment One will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Erick Sermon, Snoop Dogg & Method Man, Lou Armstrong, American Antagonist, Lisette Love, Driicky Graham, Maino and The Mafia, Krayzie Bone, Sean Hines, Finatticz and Doeshun. Terence Blanchard to Score ‘Little Rootie Tootie’

Terence Blanchard has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Little Rootie Tootie. The film is written and directed by Dan Algrant (Naked in New York, Greetings From Tim Buckley) and is set to star Christopher Walken and Lenny Kravitz. The movie follows a veteran jazz pianist who is mourning the death of his wife. His son returns home with his own wife, disrupting the couple’s careers as musicians in Europe to deal with his father as his behavior becomes manic and destructive. Algrant is producing the project with Fred Zollo (Mississippi Burning, The Paper) for A to Z Productions, along with River Bend Pictures’ Stan Erdreich and Paul Condoleon for Dalifey Ltd. ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Volume 3 Soundtrack Announced

Columbia Records will release a new soundtrack album for the FX hit drama Sons of Anarchy. Sons of Anarchy: Vol. 3 included such songs as Chris Goss’ & the Forest Rangers’ take on Sitting on Top of the World, Leonard Cohen’s Come Healing and Joshua James’ Crash This Train. The show’s house band The Forest Rangers, which is featured on music tracks, includes the show’s composer Bob Thiele, Greg Leisz (guitar/banjo), John Philip Shenale (keyboards), Lyle Workman (guitar), Dave Way, Davey Faragher (bass), Brian Macleod (drums) and Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner. The soundtrack will be released on December 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger & Dave Stewart Join ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Music Team

Sony Pictures announced today that Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and Dave Stewart have joined the music team for the superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams have previously been announced to score the film directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Denis Leary, Colm Feore, Chris Cooper, Sally Field and Felicity Jones. Johnny Marr who is best known as a co-songwriter and founding member of The Smiths has previously collaborated with Zimmer as a guitarist on Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Einziger who is the founder/guitarist/songwriter for the band Incubus has composed additional music for Zimmer’s The Lone Ranger score and Dave Stewart has worked with the composer on Dreamworks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. ‘You and the Night’ Soundtrack Announced

Naïve Records will release a soundtrack album for the French drama You and the Night (Les rencontres d’après minuit). The album features the film’s original music composed by Anthony Gonzalez of M83 who previously co-scored this year’s Oblivion starring Tom Cruise. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 11, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. You and the Night is written and directed by Yann Gonzalez and stars Kate Moran, Niels Schneider, Nicolas Maury, Éric Cantona, Fabienne Babe, Alain Fabien Delon, Julie Bremond and Béatrice Dalle. The movie follows a young couple and their transvestite maid who prepare for an orgy. The Chemical Brothers to Score ‘Trespass Against Us’

The Chemical Brothers are set to compose and perform the score for the upcoming gangster drama Trespass Against Us. Adam Smith is attached to direct the project, which will mark the director’s first narrative feature. Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in the movie, which is set across three generations of the rowdy Cutler family, who live as outlaws – hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes and taunting the police. Alastair Siddons has written the screenplay and is also producing the film with Gail Egan (Half of a Yellow Son, the upcoming A Most Wanted Man) and Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland) of Potboiler Productions.
