The album features the film’s original score composed by David Torn (Friday Night Lights, Lars and the Real Girl, The Wackness). Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including Crozet, Night Drive, Black Apples, Strange Talk and Lavender Diamond. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 28, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. A CD version will be coming out on February 18 and is available to order here. That Awkward Moment is written and directed by Tom Gormican and stars Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Imogen Poots, Mackenzie Davis and Jessica Lucas. The movie follows three guys who decide to support a friend devastated by a recent breakup by vowing to maintain their single status for as long as possible. Alex Ebert Wins Golden Globe Award for ‘All Is Lost’

goldenglobeAlex Ebert has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for J.C. Chandor’s All Is Lost starring Robert Redford. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were John Williams (The Book Thief), Hans Zimmer (12 Years a Slave), Alex Heffes (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) and Steven Price (Gravity).

In the Best Original Song category, U2 and Brian Burton won the award for the song Ordinary Love from Justin Chadwicks’s biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

outlanderBear McCreary has announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming Starz original series Outlander. The show is created by Ronald D. Moore based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books and stars Caitrona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Duncan Lacroix, Annette Badland and Stephen Walters. The series follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. Moore is also executive producing the Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television production with Jim Kohlberg (The Music Never Stopped). true-detectivePremiering tonight is the HBO original series True Detective created by Nic Pizzolatto, directed by Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) and starring Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Jay O. Sanders, Lili Simmons, Alexandra Daddario, Michael Potts, Kevin Dunn, Tory Kittles, Elizabeth Reaser and Brad Carter. T Bone Burnett (Inside Llewyn Davis, O Brother Where Are Thou?) is composing the show’s original score. True Detective follows two cops whose lives intersect during a 17-year serial killer investigation in Louisiana. The drama will air every Sunday night on HBO. Audio clips from the soundtrack for Kenneth Branagh’s action thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit have been published. The film’s music is composed by Patrick Doyle (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Thor, Much Ado About Nothing) who recorded his score with the London Symphony Orchestra. legend-of-herculesOpening in roughly 2100 theaters is the 3D action adventure The Legend of Hercules directed by Renny Harlin and starring Kellan Lutz, Liam McIntyre, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, Roxanne McKee and Liam Garrigan. The film’s original music is composed by Tuomas Kantelinen (Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) who previously scored Harlin’s Mindhunters. No word yet on a soundtrack album. the-adventurerOpening in limited release is the family adventure The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box directed by Jonathan Newman and starring Michael Sheen, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd and Aneurin Barnard. Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, MamaDevil) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. The Adventurer is based on the novel by G.P. Taylor and follows a 17-year-old boy in Victorian England who is searching for his lost parents and is kidnapped in a mysterious luxury hotel. beauty-and-the-beastIDOL – Eskwad will release a soundtrack album for Christophe Gans’ adaptation of Beauty and the Beast  (La Belle et la Bete). The album features the film’s original music composed by Pierre Adenot (Romantics Anonymous, Paris, je t’aime). Also included is Brian Keane’s Dark History Waltz from the New York documentary, as well as two songs performed by Yoann Freget. The soundtrack will be released overseas on February 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Beauty and the Beast stars Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux in the title roles. Gans (Brotherhood of the WolfSilent Hill) has also written the screenplay based on one of the earliest published variants of the classic fairy tale, included in Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve’s 1740′s collection Jeune Ameriquaine et les Contes Marins. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Patrick Doyle (Thor, Sense and Sensibility, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). The soundtrack will be released physically on February 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, as well as Branagh himself. The thriller centers on the CIA agent as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot and follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst. don-peyoteBen Lovett is the composer of the upcoming indie comedy Don Peyote. The film is written and directed by Dan Fogler and Michael Canzoniero. Fogler also stars in the movie alongside Josh Duhamel, Jay Baruchel, Kelly Hutchinson and Wallace Shawn. Anne Hathaway and Topher Grace will make a special appearance. The comedy follows an unemployed stoner who encounters a homeless man preaching the end is near and becomes obsessed with doomsday theories and decides to make a documentary on the subject. the-magic-snowflake22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Magic Snowflake. The album features the film’s original music composed by Robert Marcel Lepage. Also included is the song When Snow Falls Down performed by Rachel Bonneau. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. The Magic Snowflake is a sequel to Santa’s Apprentice and is once again directed by Luc Vinciguerra and written by Alexandre Reverend. The movie continues the journey of Nicolas who was trained to replace Santa in the first part and experiences a major crisis as he is replaced by a more experienced Santa. To get his job back he must regain the innocence of his childhood. The Gaumont production was released theatrically in France this past November.
