Masterworks Broadway has announced a new cast recording album for the stage production Back to the Future: The Musical. The 2-CD set features the content of the original album, as well as thirteen previously unreleased demos and early versions of many of the musical’s songs written by Academy Award nominee Alan Silvestri and Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard, most of which are performed by Ballard himself. The Deluxe Edition also features a new booklet, including rehearsal photos and a track by track commentary with stories about the how songs were created for the show. The album will be released next Friday, October 20 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

The full track list of the soundtrack album for the original cast recording of Back to the Future: The Musical has been revealed. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Robert Zemeckis’ 1989 sci-fi adventure Back to the Future Part II starring Michael J. Fox & Christopher Llyod. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Avengers, The Walk, Contact), including over 50 minutes of previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set features the full score on the first disc and over 30 minutes of alternate cues on the second disc. Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD club series. Among the titles is a 25th anniversary deluxe soundtrack edition for the 1990 sci-fi adventure Back to the Future Part III directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Michael J. Fox & Christopher Lloyd. The 2-CD set features the film’s original music composed by Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Croods), including the complete score on one disc, and alternate cues and source tracks on the second disc. Hollywood Bowl 2015 Season Schedule Announced
The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On September 4/5/6, 2015, the Bowl will host its premiere performance of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial in Concert. The Los Angeles Philharmonic will be performing the film’s entire Academy Award-winning score from Steven Spielberg’s classic film composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park) live-to-picture while the movie is shown in HD on the Bowl’s big screen. Alan Silvestri to Compose New Music for ‘Back to the Future’ 30th Anniversary Special Presentation
IMG Artists and the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency announced a new partnership with Universal Pictures today that will see Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future return to the big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra performing the film’s original score composed by Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, Captain America: The First Avenger). The events will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the movie starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Llyod and Lea Thompson. Silvestri will compose roughly 15 minutes of new material as part of the performance tour, which will have its world premiere screening and performance in Lucerne, Switzerland, performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra, in May of 2015.
‘Back to the Future’ Musical Update
In 2012, we reported that composer Alan Silvestri was in talks to transfer his music for Robert Zemeckis’ classic Back to the Future into a Broadway stage musical. Today, it was announced that the musical is headed for the London stage and is scheduled to open in the movie’s 30th anniversary in 2015. Silvestri is writing new original songs for the production with Glen Ballard. They previously collaborated on songs for the features The Polar Express, Beowulf and last year’s The Croods. The musical will also feature additional music from the film by Huey Lewis & The News and will incorporate Silvestri’s score from the movie. The stage production’s book is written by Zemeckis, Bob Gale and Jamie Lloyd who will also be directing the Amblin Entertainment, Colin Ingram, Universal Stage Productions, Donovan Mannato and CJ E&M production.
Alan Silvestri In Talks for ‘Back to the Future’ Broadway Stage Production
Deadline is reporting that composer Alan Silvestri is in early talks to explore a stage transfer of Robert Zemeckis’ 1985 classic Back to the Future. Apart from Silvestri, Zemeckis and his company ImageMovers, as well as Back to the Future producer and writer Bob Gale also appear to be involved in the project. The production would mark the composer’s first Broadway production. Silvestri has been the composer of all Zemeckis-directed films since 1984’s Romancing the Stone, including Forrest Gump, for which he received his first Academy Award nomination and most recently, A Christmas Carol and Beowulf. The composer’s upcoming projects also include Joss Whedon’s comic book adaptation of The Avengers, one of the most anticipated movies of the year.
