Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish/Italian period adventure drama The Captive. The album features the film’s original music composed by director Alejandro Amenábar (The Others, The Sea Inside, Open Your Eyes, While at War). The Captive is written and directed by Amenábar and stars Julio Peña Fernández, Alessandro Borghi, Miguel Rellán and Fernando Tejero. The movie tells the origin story of Miguel de Cervantes, author of the iconic novel Don Quixote, who – as a young soldier in 1575 Algiers – was held for ransom, unaware he’s on the path to becoming one of history’s greatest storyteller.

The 6-part adventure thriller is inspired by the Spanish graphic novel El Tesoro del Cisne Negro by Paco Roca & Guillermo Corra and follows a young and inexperienced diplomat as he unintentionally becomes the leader of a mission to recover the sunken treasure stolen by an adventurer who travels the world plundering items of common heritage from the depths of the sea.
Alejandro Amenábar to Score and Direct ‘The Captive’ (‘El Cautivo’)
Alejandro Amenábar is set to compose the music for the upcoming Spanish period adventure epic The Captive (El Cautivo). The filmmaker will also direct the movie, which will star Julio Peña and Alessandro Borghi and tells the origin story of Miguel de Cervantes, author of the iconic novel Don Quixote, who – at the age of 28 – was taken captive by the Moors in Algiers, leading to his creative birth. Fernando Bovaira (Biutiful, The Summer) is producing the project.

The movie is co-written and directed by Amenábar and stars Karra Elejalde, Eduard Fernández, Santi Prego, Luis Bermejo, Tito Valverde and Nathalie Poza. The film set in the first months of the Spanish Civil War and tracks the country’s slide into nearly four decades of fascism under dictator Francisco Franco. Amenábar is also producing the project with Fernando Bovaira (Sex and Lucia), Domingo Corral (Hierro) and Hugo Sigman (Wild Tales).

The soundtrack will be released on October 23, 2015 by Lakeshore Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Regression is written and directed by Amenábar and stars Ethan Hawke, Emma Watson, David Dencik, David Thewlis, Devon Bostic, Dale Dickey and Lothaire Bluteau. The movie follows a man who is arrested for sexually abusing his daughter and, with the help of a psychologist, relives the memories and implicates a police officer as his partner in crime.
Roque Banos to Score Alejandro Amenábar’s ‘Regression’
Roque Banos has signed on to score the upcoming thriller Regression. The film is written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar and stars Ethan Hawke, Emma Watson, David Dencik, Devon Bostic, David Thewlis, Dale Dickey and Lothaire Bluteau. The movie follows a man who is arrested for sexually abusing his daughter and, with the help of a psychologist, relives the memories and implicates a police officer as his partner in crime. Fernando Bovaira (The Others, Biutiful, Sex and Lucia) is producing the project with Christina Piovesan (The Whistleblower, Amreeka). Amenábar’s last feature Agora was scored by Dario Marianelli, while the director composed the music for several of his earlier movies, including The Others, Open Your Eyes and The Sea Inside.
