David Julyan is set to score the upcoming sci-fi romance Second Origin. The film is directed by Carlea Porta and stars Rachel Hurd-Wood, Andrés Batista, Ibrahim Mane and Sergi López. The movie based on the Spanish bestselling novel Mecanoscrit del Segon Origen by Manuel de Pedrolo is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows two young people who are struggling to survive in a world left in ruins. Oscar Rodriguez is producing the project for Antàrtida Produccions, alongside Christine Alderson (Valhalla Rising) for Ipso Facto Productions. The movie centers on an usher at a movie theater who believes he is the son of God, with the responsibility of deciding whether people spend eternity in heaven or hell. Paul Shoulberg has written the screenplay based on his own short story and Mark & Christine Holder (I Will Follow You Into the Dark), Brenden Hill, Ryan Harris and Benito Mueller (The Whistleblower) are producing the Zero Gravity, Purple Bench Films, Barry Films and Demarest Films production. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action movie Need for Speed directed by Scott Waugh and starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Michael Keaton, Rami Malek, Dakota Johnson and Harrison Gilbertson. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack featuring the original song Hero by Kid Cudi feat. Skylar Grey, two new songs by Aloe Blacc and more. Click here for the full details. Nathan Furst (Act of Valor) has composed the film’s original score. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Also opening wide is the comedy Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club written, directed and produced by Perry who also stars in the film alongside Nia Long, Amy Smart, Cocoa Brown, Terry Crews, William Levy and Wendi McLendon-Covey. Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, The Shipping News, Sinister) who previously scored Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas for the filmmaker has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack album. The comedy follows a group of single mothers from different walks of life bond who create a support group after an incident at their children’s school. ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Score Album Details

WaterTower Music will release a score album for the movie version of Veronica Mars. The album features the film’s original music composed by Josh Kramon who previously scored all three seasons of the cult TV show. The soundtrack will be released tomorrow, March 14, an is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. As previously reported, the label has also released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film. Veronica Mars is written and directed by Rob Thomas and stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Francis Capra, Krysten Ritter, Gaby Hoffmann and Daran Norris. ‘Noah’ Soundtrack Details

The full details of the soundtrack album for Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music by the director’s regular musical collaborator Clint Mansell (Requiem of a Dream, Black Swan, The Fountain, The Wrestler) who collaborated with the Kronos Quartet on his score. Also included is the original song Mercy Is performed by Patti Smith. The soundtrack will be released on March 25, 2014 by Nonesuch Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Noah starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Logan Lerman will be released nationwide on March 28, 2014 by Paramount Pictures. Dario Marianelli is composing the score for the upcoming crime thriller Heat. The film is directed by Simon West (Con Air, The Expendables 2, Tomb Raider) and stars Jason Statham, Sofia Vergara, Stanley Tucci, Michael Angarano, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Anne Heche, Jason Alexander, Max Casella, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia. The movie follows a recovering gambler-turned-hired bodyguard working in Vegas who decides to help a friend after she is attacked by the mob but gets in over his head as he seeks revenge. William Goldberg (The Princess Bride, Marathon Man) has written the screenplay based on his novel, which has previously turned into a movie starring Burt Reynolds in 1986. ‘Bad Words’ Soundtrack Announced

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for Jason Bateman’s indie comedy Bad Words. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Election, Mean Girls, Up in the Air). The soundtrack will be released on March 18, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Bad Words stars Jason Bateman as a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Rohan Chand, Kathryn Hahn, Allison Janney and Philip Baker Hall are co-starring in Bateman’s directorial feature debut. Ennio Morricone L.A. and New York Concerts Postponed Until June

It was announced today that Ennio Morricone‘s first-ever live performance in Los Angeles that was set for March 20 has been postponed until June 15, 2014 due to a back injury that is preventing the Academy Award-winning composer from traveling overseas. Morricone’s first concert in New York in 7 years that was set to take place at Barclays Center’s Cushman and Wakefield Theatre in Brooklyn on March 23 has been rescheduled to June 13. Tickets to the original performance will be honored at the rescheduled performance and full refund will be issued to ticket buyers who are unable to attend the rescheduled show through the original point of purchase through May 1. It is expected that the Academy-presented conversation between Morricone and Quentin Tarantino that was set for next Tuesday, March 18 will also be canceled or postponed.
‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Soundtrack Update

Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records will release the official soundtrack album for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six. The composer has created a super band for the project that features Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (of The Smiths, Modest Mouse), Michael Einziger (of Incubus), Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro. Also included is the original song It’s On Again by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar, written Williams, Keys, Zimmer & Lamar. Also featured on the album are new songs by Williams, The Neighbourhood, LIZ and Alvin Risk, as well as Phosphorescent’s Song for Zula. The soundtrack will be released on April 22, 2014.
