big-hero-6Henry Jackman has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Big Hero 6. The action comedy adventure directed by Don Hall & Chris Williams (Bolt) is inspired by the Marvel comics of the same title. The movie follows a brilliant robotics prodigy who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. The Big Hero 6 characters first appeared in 1998 and Marvel later on released a series of six comics featuring the team in 2008. TJ Miller has recently been announced as part of the film’s voice cast. Roy Conli (Tangled, Treasure Planet) is producing the Walt Disney Animation Studios production and John Lasseter is executive producing the project. Read the rest of this entry »

rains-of-castamereWaterTower Music will release a new version of the song The Rains of Castamere from the HBO original series Game of Thrones. The show’s fourth season will feature a version of the song by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The track is written by the composer of the series, Ramin Djawadi and features lyrics by George R.R. jimmys-hallGeorge Fenton is reuniting with director Ken Loach on the upcoming drama Jimmy’s Hall. The movie stars Barry Ward in the title role, alongside Simone Kirby, Jim Norton, Brían O’Byrne and Andrew Scott. The movie is set  in 1932 and follows Irish communist leader James Gralton who returns from a decade in New York to re-open the dance hall he built in 1921. Paul Laverty has written the screenplay and Rebecca O’Brien who regularly works with Loach is producing the Sixteen Films, Element Pictures, Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch production. dernier-diamantSony Music will release a soundtrack album for Eric Barbier’s French thriller The Last Diamond (Le dernier diamant). The album features the film’s original music composed by Renaud Barbier who previously scored the director’s 2006 feature The Serpent. The soundtrack will be released in France on April 28, 2014. The Last Diamond starring Yvan Attal & Berenice Bejo tells a love story inspired by the legendary lost Florentine Diamond – a 137 carats gem, first documented in Renaissance times, which went missing in 1918. imageLucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Kidnapping Freddy Heineken. The film is directed by Daniel Alfredson (The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Jim Sturgess, Sam Worthington, Ryan Kwanten, Mark van Eeuwen and Tom Cocquerel. The movie chronicles the 1983 kidnapping of the grandson of the founder of the Heineken brewery and his driver who were released only after a ransom of 35 million Dutch guilders was paid. William Brookfield (Rough Magic, Close Your Eyes) has written the screenplay based on Peter R. de Vries’ bestselling book. Judy Cairo (Crazy Heart, Hysteria) and Michael A. neighborsAtlantic Records has announced a soundtrack album for Nick Stoller’s comedy Neighbors. The album features the songs from the film including the new track Freaking Out by Flo Rida, a special mash up of Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On featuring The Black Keys, as well as hits from such artists as Fergie, Nappy Roots, Icona Pop, K’naan, Theophilus London, Ke$ha and more. The soundtrack will be released on April 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Neighbors is directed by Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek) and stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dave Franco and Ike Barinholtz. The movie is directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Youth in Revolt) and stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Megan Mulally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The movie is based on the 1972 illustrated children’s classic by Judith Viorst and follows a boy who has a very horrible day and finds out that other people can have them too. Rob Lieber has written the screenplay. young-sherlock-holmesIntrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1985 mystery adventure Young Sherlock Holmes directed by Barry Levinson, written by Chris Columbus, presented by Steven Spielberg and starring Nicholas Rowe. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Lost in Space, Rescuers Down Under). The 2-CD set features the entire 90-minutes score, as well as several alternates and “extras”. The original 1986 soundtrack album only featured a little over half an hour of the composer’s score.
