MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the animated movie Pirate’s Passage. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Lockington (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: Mysterious Island, San Andreas). John Ottman & David Buckley to Score Shane Black’s ‘The Nice Guys’

John Ottman and David Buckley are set to score the upcoming detective thriller The Nice Guys. The film is directed by Shane Black (Iron Man 3, screenwriter of Lethal Weapon) and stars Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Matt Bomer, Kim Basinger, Angourie Rice, Beau Knapp, Keith David and Margaret Qualley. The movie is set in 1970s Los Angeles and follows a down-on-his-luck private eye and a hired leg-breaker who must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. Black also co-wrote the script with Anthony Bagarozzi. Joel Silver (The Matrix, Die Hard, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes) is producing the project through his Silver Pictures company. Nest & Sound will release a soundtrack album for the drama Ladygrey. The album features the film’s original music composed by Peter von Poehl (Vanishing Waves). Joseph LoDuca to Score Starz’s ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ TV Series

Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell revealed in a recent interview with Collider that Joseph LoDuca will be providing the score for the upcoming Starz original series Ash vs. Evil Dead. The show is the follow-up to the classic film franchise The Evil Dead and stars Bruce Campbell who will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones are c0-starring. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz: The Great and Powerful) is directing the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Rob Tapert (Drag Me to Hell, The Grudge), Campbell and Craig DiGregorio who will also serve as the showrunner of the project. Trevor Morris has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller sequel London Has Fallen. The film is directed by Babak Najafi (Snabba Cash II) and stars Gerard Butler who returns as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, alongside Aaron Eckhart as the U.S. President, Morgan Freeman as Vice President Trumbull, Angela Bassett as Secret Service Director Lynne Jacobs and Melissa Leo as Defense Secretary Ruth McMillan. Robert Forster, Sean O’Bryan, Radha Mitchell, Jackie Earle Haley, Alon Aboutboul, Charlotte Riley and Waleed Zuaiter are co-starring. The sequel takes place in London during the funeral of the British Prime Minister who has passed away under mysterious circumstances, when Banning discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders. On Saturday, April 25, the 16th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival will host The Art of Music in Visual Media panel during the festival’s Seminar Series. The participating composers include Marco Beltrami (Fantastic Four, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine), Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, John Wick, Dawn of the Dead), Matthew Margeson (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass 2, Scouts vs. Zombies), Ryan Shore (Prime, Numb, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever) and Jason T. Miller (The Odd Couple, ‘Til Death, Out of Practice). Mercury Classics will release film composer James Horner‘s first concert work in over 30 years, Pas de Deux. The Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra written by the Academy Award-winning composer of such movies as Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, Aliens, A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13 and performed by musicians Mari & Hakon Samuelsen and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra premiered last fall in Liverpool. Also included on the album is Pärt’s Fratres for Violin, String Orchestra & Percussion, Sollima’s Violoncelles, Vibrez! and Einaudi’s Divenire. This week, Blake Neely has recorded his score for the pilot of the new CBS drama Supergirl. The show based on the DC Comics property centers on Kara Zor-El ,Superman’s cousin, who escaped from on the planet Krypton and was taken in by a foster family on Earth who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers. Melissa Benoist stars in the title role, alongside Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the indie comedy The D Train. The album features the film’s original music composed by fun.’s Andrew Dost who made his feature film scoring debut with the project. Also included are tracks by INXS, The Vapors, Quarterflash, Mr. Mister, and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), as well as the original song A Million Stars performed by Andy McCluskey (OMD), Rob Kroehler (Ladylike), Jack Antonoff (fun.) and Dost himself.
