Notefornote Music will release a score album for Justin Chon’s indie drama Gook. The album features the film’s original music composed by Roger Suen. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 25, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Gook is written and directed by Chon who also stars in the movie alongside Simone Baker, David So, Curtiss Cook Jr., Sang Chon, Omono Okojie, Ben Munoz, Cesar Garcia, Isaiah Jarel and Kirlew Vilbon. The movie follows two Korean American brothers who strike up a friendship with an 11-year-old African American girl while racial tensions build to a breaking point as the 1992 Los Angeles riots break out. Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe are hosting a competition for the music community entitled, “Show us your Musical Genius!” Participants will submit their rendition or interpretation of the composers’ Emmy Award-nominated theme from the NatGeo original series Genius executive produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer & Ken Biller and starring Geoffrey Rush & Johnny Flynn and blue ribbon judges along with Zimmer and Balfe will pick the winners. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung and Joaquim De Almeida. The film’s original score is composed by Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the songs from the movie by Lionel Ritchie, Foreigner, King Harvest, Chuck Berry, Samuel L. Jackson & more. Also opening wide is the crime comedy Logan Lucky directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterson, Sebastian Stan, Hilary Swank, Daniel Craig and Dwight Yoakam. David Holmes (Ocean’s Eleven, Out of Sight, Haywire) has composed the film’s original music. Brian Tyler to Score Jon M. Chu’s ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

Brian Tyler has been hired to score the upcoming romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Step Up 2: The Streets) and stars Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Harry Shum Jr. and Awkwafina. The movie is based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same title and follows a Chinese-American economics professor and her boyfriend, who happens to be the heir to a massive fortune. Peter Chiarelli (The Proposal) and Adele Lim (Lethal Weapon) wrote the screenplay. Universal Music has announced two soundtrack albums for the docu-series The Vietnam War. The first album features popular songs featured in the show that define the era, including tracks from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Otis Redding, Santana, Ray Charles, Nina Simone & more. The film is directed by Lynn Shelton (Your Sister’s Sister, Laggies) and stars Jay Duplass, Edie Falco, Kaitlyn Dever and Ben Schwartz. The movie follows an ex-con who is struggling to readjust to life in his small town and forms an intense bond with his former high-school teacher. Shelton also co-wrote the screenplay with Duplass.
