Premiering tomorrow, March 25 is the second season of the History original series Knightfall created by Don Handfield & Richard Rayner and starring Tom Cullen, Mark Hamill, Bobby Schofield, Sabrina Bartlett, Julian Ovenden, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Tom Forbes and Genevieve Gaunt. Natalie Holt (Journey’s End, The Honourable Woman, Beecham House) has composed the original music for the new season. Premiering on Thursday, March 28, is the new NBC comedy Abby’s created by Josh Malmuth and starring Natalie Morales, Neil Flynn, Nelson Franklin, Jessica Chaffin, Leonard Ouzts and Kimia Behpoornia. The show’s original music is composed by Brian H. Kim (Hello, My Name Is Doris, Search Party, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, G.B.F.). Alec Puro (The Art of Getting By, Higher Ground, The Fosters, All Nighter) is the composer of the new Netflix original series Black Summer. The show is created by Karl Schaefer & John Hyams is a spin-off of Syfy’s Z Nation and stars Jaime King, Justin Chu Cary, Kelsey Flower, Mustafa Alabssi, Erika Hau and Sal Velez, Jr.. The action horror drama and set in the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of complete strangers who band together to find the strength they need to survive and get back to loved ones. The only new movie opening in theaters nationwide is the horror thriller Us written and directed by Jordan Peele and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anna Diop and Evan Alex. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Abels (Get Out). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Luniz, Janelle Monáe and Minnie Riperton. Opening in limited release is the thriller Hotel Mumbai co-written and directed by Anthony Maras and starring Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Anupam Kher and Jason Isaacs. Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Patrick Melrose, Adrift, Gunpowder). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. WaterTower Music has released a full version of the main titles song from the new Freeform original series Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Denmark + Winter‘s cover of  The Pierces’ Secret, which was featured in the original Pretty Little Liars series. Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) is reteaming with director Tim Miller on Terminator: Dark Fate. The movie, which marks the sixth part in the series and is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day, stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes and Diego Boneta. David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Blade) wrote the screenplay. James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) who helmed the first two parts in the series (scored by Brad Fiedel) is producing the project with Skydance Media’s David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation). Milan Music will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Stockholm. The album features the film’s original music composed by Steve London (Born to Be Blue). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 12 and will be available to download here. Stockholm is written and directed by Robert Budreau and stars Ethan Hawke, Noomi Rapace, Mark Strong, Christopher Heyerdahl, Bea Santos and Thorbjorn Harr. The movie is based on the true story of a 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis in Stockholm, during which hostages bonded with their captors and turned against the authorities, giving rise to the psychological phenomenon known as Stockholm Syndrome.  Read the rest of this entry »

Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for Pedro Almodovar’s new drama Pain & Glory (Dolor y Gloria). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, The Kite Runner) who has previously scored most of the director’s movies over the last two decades. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the new Amazon originals series Hanna. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow (Annihilation, Ex Machina, Free Fire), The Insects, Simon Ashdow and Yann McCullough. Also included is Karen O’s original song Anti-Lullaby and her cover of The Smashing Pumpkins’ Bullet With Butterfly Wings. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 29 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
