Alexandre Desplat was honored with his second Academy Award for his score for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water at tonight’s 90th Oscar ceremony. The other nominated composers in the Best Original Score category were Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread), Hans Zimmer (Dunkirk), John Williams (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and Carter Burwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). Premiering on Wednesday, March 7, in the U.S. is the crime drama series Hard Sun created by Neil Cross and starring Agyness Deyn, Jim Sturgess and Nikki Amuka-Bird. The show’s original music is composed by Neil Davidge (Unleashed, Push, Monsters: Dark Continent, Britannia, Good People). The series, which follows detective who seeks to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction, premiered in January in the UK on BBC One and is making its U.S. debut on Wednesday on Hulu.

Also premiering on Wednesday is the new CW comedy drama Life Sentence created by Erin Cardillo & Richard Keith and starring Lucy Hale, Carlos PenaVega, Elliot Knight, Dylan Walsh, Gillian Vigman, Jayson Blair and Brooke Lyons. The composing duo of WAZ-Jackson (Cougar Town, Surviving Jack) is composing the show’s original music. The series follows a young woman who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and has to learn to live with the choices she made when she decided to “live like she was dying”. Sergio Moure has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Feedback. The film is directed by Pedro C. Alonso and stars Paul Anderson, Eddie Marsan, Richard Brake and Ivana Baquero. The movie revolves around a radio host and his team whose live broadcast is interrupted when two intruders break into their studio and must carry on with the show without ever revealing the danger they are in. Alonso has also co-written the screenplay with Alberto Marini (Sleep Tight, Retribution). Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Unknown, The Shallows, The Commuter) & Juan Sola (Anna) are producing the project for Ombra Films, alongside Borja Pena & Emma Lustres (Cell 211, El Niño) for Vaca Films. DNA-Productions has released a soundtrack album for the crime drama First We Take Brooklyn. The album features the film’s original score composed by Lionel Cohen. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. First We Take Brooklyn is co-written and directed by Danny A. Abeckaser who also stars in the film with Harvey Keitel, AnnaLynne McCord, Charlotte McKinney, Edoardo Ballerini and Kathrine Narducci. The movie follows an ex-convict who moves to New York hoping for a fresh start, when he gets dragged into a brutal turf war with the Russian mob forcing him to revisit his dark past and the survival skills he learned in prison. The details of the soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Strangers: Prey at Night have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Adrian Johnston (Becoming JaneBrideshead RevisitedLassieDancing on the Edge). Also included are songs as featured in the movie by Kim Wilde, Bonnie Tyler, Mental As Anything and Air Supply. The details of the soundtrack album for the supernatural thriller Ghost Stories have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, The Etruscan Smile) who recorded his score with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Air Lyndhurst Studios. Also included are the songs Why by Anthony Newley and Monster Mash by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 13, 2018 by Varese Sarabande and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Peter Nashel has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Book Club. The film marks the directorial debut of producer/screenwriter Bill Holderman (A Walk in the Woods, The Company You Keep) and stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson, Andy Garcia and Don Johnson. The movie centers on four lifelong friends in their 60s who read Fifty Shades of Grey in their monthly book club and have their lives forever changed — even though this is not the type of book they typically read.
