Mychael Danna is currently scoring the upcoming biographical drama On the Basis of Sex. The film is directed by Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Peacemaker) and stars Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, alongside Armie Hammer, Jack Reynor, Stephen Root, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston and Cailee Spaeny. The movie follows Ruth Bader & Marty Ginsburg as they team up to bring the first landmark gender discrimination case before the Supreme Court. Tamar-kali has been hired to score the upcoming family drama Between Earth and Sky. The film is written and directed by Veena Sud (The Killing, Seven Seconds) and stars Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King. No plot details have been announced yet. Jason Blum (Get Out, Paranormal Activity, The Purge), Alix Madigan (Winter’s Bone, Laggies) and Christopher Tricarico (The Man in the High Castle, Philip K. Polydor/Island Records will release a new soundtrack album for the German Amazon original series You Are Wanted. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Arne Schumann and Josef Bach, as well as songs by Chester Travis, Ofri Brin, Nicola Fegg, M.M.F.D.V., Nicola Fegg and Madeline Juno. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Earl Rose (Mad Dog Time, Inventing L.A.: The Chandlers and Their Times, Stardust: The Bette Davis Story). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Always at the Carlyle is directed by Matthew Miele and centers on Manhattan’s 87-year-old landmark and a residency for many prominent New Yorkers. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller Bad Samaritan directed by Dean Devlin and starring David Tennant, Robert Sheehan, Kerry Condon, Carlito Olivero, Jacqueline Byers, Tracey Heggins and Robert P. Nagle. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Ash vs Evil Dead). Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Overboard directed by Rob Greenberg & Bob Fisher and starring Eugenio Derbez, Anna Faris, Eva Longoria, John Hannah and Cecilia Suarez. Lyle Workman (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad, Love, Crashing, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) has composed the film’s original score.
