Frederik Wiedmann has been tapped to score the upcoming new film adaptation of the video game Doom. The film is written and directed by Tony Giglio (Chaos, In Enemy Hands) and stars Louis Mandylor, Chidi Ajufo, Jemma Moore, Arkie Reece, James Weber Brown, Nina Bergman, Amy Manson, Clayton Adams, Amer Chadha Patel and Luke Allen-Gale. No plot details have been announced yet. The movie is produced by Universal 1440 Entertainment, for which Wiedmann has previously scored numerous projects, including Jarhead 2: Field of Fire & Jarhead 3: The Siege, Tremors 5: Bloodlines & Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell and this year’s Death Race: Beyond Anarchy and The Scorpion King: Book of Souls (to be released later this month). Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the superhero movie Venom directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. The film’s original music is composed by Ludwig Goransson (Black PantherCreedFruitvale StationCommunity). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening nationwide is the musical drama A Star Is Born directed by Bradley Cooper who also stars in the movie, alongside Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Anthony Ramos, Bonnie Somerville, Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott. Cooper & Gaga have also written several original songs to the film. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie. ‘Ride’ Soundtrack Released

Music of the Sea has released a soundtrack album for the thriller Ride. The album features the songs from the movie by artists such as Archie Thompson, Psychedelic Soul Crew, Ages of the Earth, Tiny Barge, Paul Montesano, Supa Nova Kaine and Mansuki. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Ride is written and directed by Jeremy Ungar and stars Jessie T. Usher, Bella Thorne and Will Brill. The movie scored by Paul Haslinger takes place over the course of one night in Los Angeles and follows a young woman as she hails a ride on an app unaware that she will be joined by a sociopath. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for Zhang Yimou’s action epic Shadow. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lao Zai (Mountain Patrol, Police Story: Lockdown, Railroad Tigers). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Shadow is co-written and directed by Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers, Hero) and stars Deng Chao, Sun Li, Zheng Kai, Wang Qianyuan, Wang Jingchun, Hu Jun, Guan Xiaotong and Leo Wu. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album for the French animated feature Dilili in Paris (Dilili à Paris). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, City of Angels, 1408). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full track list. A CD version is also being released overseas. Dilili in Paris is written and directed by Michel Ocelot and follows a young Kanak who investigates a spate of mysterious kidnappings of young girls that is plaguing Belle Epoque Paris and encounters a series of extraordinary characters in the course of her investigation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Waltz with Bashir, Hostiles, Miss Sloane, White Boy Rick, Taboo, Disconnect). Never Look Away is written and directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) and stars Tom Schilling, Sebastian Koch, Paula Beer, Oliver Masucci and Saskia Rosendahl. The album features a selections of songs from the show by artists including Pink Martini, DJ Shadow, Anna Dellaria, The Meters, Santigold, Ladytron, Princess Nokia, Peggy Lee & more.
