Back Lot Music has released the theme song for the Netflix animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. The track, entitled, Warriors, is written by Kari Kimmel and performed by Aaliyah Rose and is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is developed by Noelle Stevenson based on the classic 1980s show and features the voices of Aimee Carrero, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka, Marcus Scribner, Reshma Shetty and Lorraine Toussaint. The only movie opening nationwide this week is Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson and Josh Brolin. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Croods). Opening in limited release is the biographical drama The White Crow directed by Ralph Fiennes and starring Fiennes himself, Oleg Ivenko, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Sergei Polunin, Chulpan Khamatova and Louis Hofmann. Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, Still Alice, Kick-Ass, Johnny English Reborn) has composed the film’s original score and also arranged ballet compositions by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Alexander Krein & Ludwig Minkus. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz who also stars in the movie alongside Annette Bening, Vanessa Redgrave and Corey Hawkins. The movie is based on the New York Times Magazine article by Franklin Foer and follows an ambitious social climber who marries a wealthy widow in Washington D.C. in order to mix with powerful political players. BMG has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Echo in the Canyon. The album features music from and inspired by the film, including songs by The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas and more, as interpreted by artists from the film including Fiona Apple, Beck, Cat Power, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, as well as a special performance of the Monkees’ She with Josh Homme. A first track, Jakob Dylan & Jade Castrinos’ cover of Go Where You Wanna Go, is already available to download here. The full soundtrack will be released digitally on May 24 and is now available for pre-order here.
