The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the comedy drama Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Al Pacino. The film doesn’t feature an original score. Mary Ramos serves as the project’s music supervisor. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring tracks by Deep Purple, Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Revere & The Raiders Buffy Sainte-Marie & others today. Opening in limited release is the drama Skin written and directed by Guy Nattiv and starring Jamie Bell, Vera Farmiga, Danielle Macdonald, Mike Colter and Bill Camp. Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac, The Good Doctor, Easy) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. ‘For Sama’ Soundtrack Released

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary For Sama. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nainita Desai (Enemy Within, The Confessions of Thomas Quick, Darkness Visible). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. For Sama is directed by Waad al-Kateab & Edward Watts and tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her. ‘Luce’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records & Invada Records will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Luce. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow (Annihilation, Ex Machina, Hanna, Free Fire). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 2 and is now available to download on Amazon. Luce is directed by Julius Onah and stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer and Tim Roth. The movie based on J.C. Lee’s play of the same title and centers on a former child soldier living in a suburb and his relationship to a teacher who becomes aware of his views on political violence.  Read the rest of this entry »

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Bonding. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Adam Crystal (The Dawn Wall, Those People). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Bonding is created by Rightor Doyle and stars Zoe Levin, Brendan Scannell, Micah Stock, D’Arcy Carden, Eric Berryman and Theo Stockman. Craig Armstrong’s Music for the Films of Peter Mullan to Be Released

CMA Records will release a new compilation soundtrack album featuring several scores from the films of director Peter Mullan composed by Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk, Love Actually, Romeo & Juliet). Among the titles included are the composer’s scores for 1998’s Orphans, 2002’s The Magdalene Sisters, 2010’s Neds, as well as his music for the shorts Good Day for the Bad Guys and Fridge. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stephen Endelman (Flirting with Disaster, Home of the Brave, Jawbreaker) who previously scored the director’s features Two Family House & Rob the Mob and the mini-series Madoff. Bottom of the 9th is written and directed by De Felitta and stars Joe Manganiello, Sofia Vergara, Michael Rispoli and Denis O’Hare. Christopher Young’s ‘Virtuosity’ Score to Be Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere commercial release of the score from the 1995 sci-fi thriller Virtuosity directed by Brett Leonard and starring Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Kelly Lynch, Stephen Spinella, William Forsythe and Louise Fletcher. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, Hellraiser, Pet Sematary, The Grudge, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Ghost Rider). Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande will release the official soundtrack album for the drama After the Wedding. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Capote, Moneyball, Little Miss Sunshine, The Good Dinosaur). Also included are three songs by The Commodores, Abby Quinn and The Counterfits. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 9 (click here to download) and physically on August 23. Hans Zimmer’s ‘Xperiments from ‘Dark Phoenix’ to Be Released

Remote Control Productions will release a new soundtrack album featuring previously unreleased suites and themes written for the X-Men movie Dark Phoenix. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception). Xperiments from Dark Phoenix will be released digitally on August 2, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album, which was originally planned to be released as part of a 2-CD set, sparked a fan petition when those plans appeared to be canceled.
