Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack EP for the BBC Earth documentary Meerkat: A Dynasties Special. The 4-track EP features selections of the original music from the special composed by Benji Merrison & Will Slater (One Strange Rock, Africa, Planet Earth Live). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. A full soundtrack album will be announced soon. The label has previously released the composers’ score from the original 2018 Dynasties series. Meerkat: A Dynasties Special is produced and directed by Emma Napper and follows a young meerkat queen living in the harsh beauty of the Makgadikgadi salt pans who must unite her family in the face of rivals, predators and immense dust storms. Composer Robin Foster (Criminal: UK, Untogether, Truth Seekers) is reuniting with director Sean Ellis on the upcoming period horror drama Eight for Silver. The film is written and directed by Ellis (Cashback, The Broken) and stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran and Áine Rose Daly. The movie is set in the late 19th century and follows a pathologist who arrives in a remote country village to investigate an attack by a wild animal brutal and discovers a sinister presence lurking in the woods. Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the superhero movie Wonder Woman 1984 directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Check out our previous news article for the full album and to learn more about the Warner Bros. Also opening wide is the western News of the World co-written and directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel. James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, King Kong, The Village) has composed the film’s original music. The drama is inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin and centers on Assane Diop whose life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit and, 25 years later, uses “Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar” as his inspiration to avenge his father.
