The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the superhero action adventure The Suicide Squad written and directed by James Gunn and starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Joel Kinnaman, John Cena, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Daniela Melchior, David Dastmalchian Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion and Sylvester Stallone.. The film’s original score is composed by John Murphy (28 Days Later, Kick-Ass, Sunshine, Snatch, Millions). WaterTower Music has released two soundtrack albums featuring both the songs from the movie and Murphy’s score. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Amazon Prime on August 20 is the musical drama Annette co-written and directed by Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, Simon Helberg and Devyn McDowell. Sparks (Ron and Russell Mael) have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring a selection of the songs from the movie today.
