Harry Escott is scoring the upcoming British thriller Dark River. The film is written and directed by Clio Barnard and stars Ruth Wilson, Sean Bean and Mark Stanley. The movie follows a woman who returns to her home village for the first time time in 15 years after the death of her father, to claim the tenancy to the family farm she believes is rightfully hers. Tracy O’Riordan is producing the Film4, Left Bank Pictures and Moonspun Films production. Escott has previously collaborated with Barnard on her previous two features, The Selfish Giant and The Arbor. Dark River is expected to be released in the UK in 2017.

Jeff Beal to Score ‘An Inconvenient Sequel’
Jeff Beal is composing the original music for the upcoming documentary An Inconvenient Sequel. The film directed by Bonni Cohen & Jon Shenk (The Island President, Audrie & Daisy) is the sequel to the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth and follows Vice President Al Gore as he continues his tireless fight, traveling around the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Richard Berge (The Rape of Europa) and Diane Weyermann (Citizenfour) are producing the project. Davis Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman, He Named Me Malala) who helmed the Academy Award-winning original film (scored by Michael Brook) serves as an executive producer on the project.
Theodore Shapiro to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Captain Underpants’ & ‘The Polka King’
Theodore Shapiro has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Captain Underpants. The film is directed by David Soren (Turbo) and features the voice talent of Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, Thomas Middleditch, Nick Kroll, Kristen Schaal and Jordan Peele. The movie is based on the book by Dav Pilkey and centers around two mischievous kids who hypnotize their mean high school principal and turn him into their comic book creation, the kind-hearted and elastic-banded Captain Underpants. Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, Storks) has written the screenplay.
Dominic Lewis to Score ‘Rock That Body’
Dominic Lewis has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Rock That Body. The film is directed by Lucia Aniello (Broad City) and stars Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Zoe Kravitz, Demi Moore, Ty Burrell, Hasan Minhaj and Colton Haynes. The movie follows five friends who get a beach house in Miami for a wild bachelorette weekend that goes completely off the rails. Aniello also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul W. Downs. They are also producing the project with Matt Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man, Jumanji) and Dave Becky (Louie, Master of None, Insecure).
Xavier Gens’ ‘Cold Skin’ to Feature Music by Victor Reyes
This week, Victor Reyes is recording his score for the upcoming psychological thriller Cold Skin. The film is directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman, The Divide, Frontier(s)) and stars Ray Stevenson, David Oakes and Aura Garrido. The movie is based on the book by Albert Sanchez Piñol of the same title and follows a young man who is approaching a remote island on the edge of the Antarctic Circle to relieve a weather observer who has been stationed there in solitude. But all he finds is a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. Jesus Olmo (28 Weeks Later) has written the screenplay.
David Hirschfelder Scoring ‘Dance Academy: The Movie’
David Hirschfelder has recently composed the music for the upcoming feature Dance Academy: The Movie. The film is directed by Jeffrey Walker and stars Xenia Goodwin, Miranda Otto, Dena Kaplan, Alicia Banit, Thomas Lacey, Jordan Rodrigues, Keiynan Lonsdale and Tara Morice. The movie is based on the Australian TV series Dance Academy created by Samantha Strauss & Joanna Werner, which premiered in 2010, and tracks where the show’s characters are in their lives now. Strauss also wrote the screenplay and Werner is producing the project.
Daniel Hart to Score David Lowery’s ‘A Ghost Story’
Daniel Hart is reteaming with director David Lowery on the upcoming drama A Ghost Story. The film is written and directed by Lowery and stars Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, Will Oldham, Sonia Acevedo, Rob Zabrecky and Liz Franke. The movie follows a spectral figure, who was once a man and was prematurely taken from this Earth, who makes his way toward his former home, where he is fated to remain forevermore. Toby Halbrooks & James M. Johnston (Listen Up Philip) and Adam Donaghey are producing the project. Hart has previously scored Lowery’s previous three features, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, St. Nick and this year’s Pete’s Dragon.
Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring ‘See You Tomorrow’
Nathaniel Mechaly has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Chinese romance See You Tomorrow. The film is written and directed by Zhang Jiajia and stars Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Eason Chan, Angelababy and Sandrine Pinna. The movie follows a young woman who falls in love with a married painter whose wife is unfaithful to him. Kar Wai Wong (In the Mood for Love, 2046, My Blueberry Nights) is producing the project. Mechaly (Taken series, Colombiana) has previously collaborated with Wong on the 2014 feature The Grandmaster.
Michael Giacchino to Score J.A. Bayona’s ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel
Michael Giacchino confirmed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he will be returning to score the currently untitled Jurassic World sequel. The film will be directed by J.A. Bayona and is set to star Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Justice Smith and. No plot details have been revealed yet. Colin Trevorrow who directed the first Jurassic World movie has written the screenplay with Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed). Frank Marshall (The Sixth Sense, Sully, Signs) is producing the project with Pat Crowley (Jason Bourne series, Eagle Eye) and Belén Atienza.
Michael Andrews to Score Michael Showalter’s ‘The Big Sick’
Michael Andrews has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy The Big Sick. The film is directed by Michael Showalter (Hello, My Name Is Doris, Wet Hot American Summer) and stars Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano and Anupam Kher. The movie follows a Pakistan-born comedian and an American grad student as they are dealing with their cultural differences as their relationship grows. Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) also co-wrote the screenplay with Emily V. Gordon. Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Trainwreck, Knocked Up) is producing the project with Barry Mendel (The Sixth Sense, Bridesmaids, Munich).
