Frank Ilfman has signed on to score the upcoming supernatural thriller Ghost Stories. The film is written and directed by Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen) & actor Andy Nyman and stars Martin Freeman, Paul Whitehouse, Alex Lawther and Amy Doyle. The movie follows an arch sceptic professor who embarks upon a terror filled quest, when he stumbles across a long lost file containing details of three cases of inexplicable ‘hauntings’. Claire Jones (Kill List, Sightseers) and Robin Gutch (Hunger, ’71) are producing the project. Ilfman will be recording his score with the London Metropolitan Orchestra in March.

Rolfe Kent Scoring Greg Kinnear’s ‘The Philosophy of Phil’
Rolfe Kent has composed the music for the upcoming comedy The Philosophy of Phil. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Greg Kinnear who also stars in the movie alongside Emily Mortimer, Jay Duplass, Robert Forster, Taylor Schilling, Bradley Whitford and Luke Wilson. The movie follows a dentist who tries to take control of his life after a patient commits suicide. Stephen Mazur (Liar Liar, Heartbreakers) has written the screenplay. Aaron L Gilbert (The Birth of a Nation, A Single Shot) is producing the Bron Studios and Imperative Entertainment production with Sandy Stern (Being John Malkovich, Saved!) and Bradley Thomas (There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself and Irene).
Marco Beltrami to Score James Mangold’s ‘Logan’
Director James Mangold confirmed on Twitter that Marco Beltrami is currently scoring the upcoming Wolverine sequel Logan. The film starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen follows an an aging Wolverine and Professor X must protect a young female clone of Wolverine from an evil organization led by Nathanial Essex. Simon Kinberg (X-Men:Days of Future Past & Apocalypse, The Martian, Cinderella) and Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men series, Deadpool, Constantine) are producing the project. No word yet on whether any music composed by Cliff Martinez who was originally hired to score the movie will be featured in the film.
Lisa Gerrard & James Orr Scoring Paul Currie’s ‘2:22’
Lisa Gerrard and James Orr have composed the original music for the upcoming romantic thriller 2:22. The film is directed by Paul Currie (One Perfect Day) and stars Michiel Huisman, Teresa Palmer, Sam Reid and Simone Kessell. The movie follows a man whose life is permanently derailed when an ominous pattern of events repeats itself in exactly the same manner every day, ending at precisely 2:22 PM. Todd Stein and Nathan Parker (Moon, Equals) have written the screenplay.
Joel P. West Scoring ‘The Bachelors’
Joel P. West is scoring the upcoming comedy drama The Bachelors. The film is written and directed by Kurt Voelker and stars J.K. Simmons, Julie Delpy, Josh Wiggins and Odeya Rush. The movie revolves around a widower and his 17-year-old son who move from a small northern California town to Los Angeles, where their lives are transformed by a wry old friend and two extraordinary women. Matthew Baer (Unbroken, City by the Sea, Maggie) and George Parra (The Squeeze) are producing the project with Joe McKelheer (The Adderall Diaries) and Bill Kiely for Windowseat Entertainment.
Dan Romer Scoring Jeff Baena’s ‘The Little Hours’ & ‘Chasing Coral’
Dan Romer is composing the music for the upcoming comedy The Little Hours. The film is written and directed by Jeff Baena (Life After Beth, Joshy) and stars Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon. The movie follows a young servant fleeing from his master who takes refuge at a dysfunctional convent in medieval Tuscany. Plaza is also producing the project with
Liz Destro (Life of Crime, Yoga Hosers, About Cherry) for Destro Films. The Little Hours will premiere next month at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Keegan DeWitt to Score Aaron Katz’s ‘Gemini’
Keegan DeWitt is reteaming with director Aaron Katz on the upcoming thriller Gemini. The film is written and directed by Katz (Cold Weather) and stars Lola Kirke, Zoe Kravitz, John Cho, Ricki Lake, Greta Lee, Michelle Forbes, Nelson Franklin, Reeve Carney, Jessica Parker Kennedy and James Ransone. Mynette Louie (Cold Comes the Night, Children of Invention), Sara Murphy (Morris From America) and Adele Romanski (Moonlight, Black Rock, Kicks) are producing the project. DeWitt has previously scored Katz’s last feature, Land Ho!.
Alexandre Desplat to Score Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’
Guillermo del Toro revealed in a recent interview with Indiewire that Alexandre Desplat is set to compose the music for the director’s upcoming fantasy drama The Shape of Water. The film stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg and Octavia Spencer. The movie is described as an other-worldly story, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. Del Toro has also written the screenplay with Vanessa Taylor (Divergent, Hope Springs) and is producing the project with J. Miles Dale (Mama, The Strain).

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant reveals that Jed Kurzel has taken over scoring duties on the movie. The film starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, as they discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Penny Dreadful) has written the screenplay.
