Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are attached to develop the project, which has sold to Amblin Partners. Steve Levenson (Masters of Sex, Dear Evan Hansen stage musical) is writing the screenplay and Marc Platt (La La Land, Bridge of Spies, Into the Woods, Legally Blonde) will produce the film with Adam Siegel (Drive, 2 Guns).

Islands’ Nick Thorburn Scoring Matt Spicer’s ‘Ingrid Goes West’
Nick Thorburn is scoring the upcoming indie comedy Ingrid Goes West. The film is directed by Matt Spicer (Ceremony) and stars Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Wyatt Russell and Billy Magnussen. The movie follows a young woman who becomes obsessed with an Instagram lifestyle blogger and moves to Los Angeles to try and befriend her in real life. Spicer also co-wrote the screenplay with David Branson Smith. Plaza is also producing the project with Jared Goldman (Adult Beginners, Wilson), Tim White & Trevor White (LBJ, The Good Neighbor), Adam Mirels and Robert Mirels.
Clint Mansell to Score ‘The New Radical’
Clint Mansell is composing the music for the upcoming documentary The New Radical. The film is directed by Adam Bhala Lough (Bomb the System) and centers on a group of uncompromising millennial radicals from the United States and the United Kingdom who attack the system through dangerous technological means, which evolves into a high-stakes game with world authorities in the midst of a dramatically changing political landscape. Lucy Sumner (Hesher), Alex Needles and Brent Stiefel (Grassroots, Free in Deed, As You Are) are producing the project.
RZA to Score Michael Larnell’s ‘Roxanne Roxanne’
RZA has been tapped to compose the original music for the upcoming indie drama Roxanne Roxanne. The film is written and directed by Michael Larnell and stars Chanté Adams, Mahershala Ali, Nia Long, Elvis Nolasco, Kevin Phillips and Shenell Edmonds. The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the story of a 14-year-old rap prodigy from New York City’s Queensbridge Projects named Lolita Shante Gooden, who would go onto become hip hop legend Roxanne Shanté. Pharrell Williams and Forest Whitaker are producing the project with Nina Yang Bongiovi (Dope, Fruitvale Station) and Mimi Valdes.
Bear McCreary to Score Danny Strong’s ‘Rebel in the Rye’
Bear McCreary has signed on to score the upcoming drama Rebel in the Rye. The film is written and directed by Danny Strong (Recount, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Empire) and stars Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Spacey, Sarah Paulson, Zoey Deutch, Hope Davis and Victor Garber. The movie centers on the life and mind of reclusive author J.D. Salinger and goes from the bloody front lines of World War II to his early rejections and the PTSD-fueled writer’s block that led to his iconic novel, The Catcher in the Rye. Strong is also producing the project with Bruce Cohen (Silver Linings Playbook, American Beauty), Jason Shuman (The Messengers, Darkness Falls), as well as Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill & Trent Luckinbill (Sicario, Demolition).
Fil Eisler to Score Marti Noxon’s ‘To the Bone’
Fil Eisler has been hired to score the upcoming comedy To the Bone. The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fright Night, I Am Number Four) and stars Lily Collins, Keanu Reeves, Carrie Preston, Lili Taylor, Alex Sharp and Liana Liberato. The movie follows a 20-year old woman who is battling her severe anorexia and enters a group recovery home. Noxon also wrote the screenplay inspired by her own experiences with anorexia. Julie Lynn (Albert Nobbs, Mother and Child, Last Days in the Desert) and Bonnie Curtis (Minority Report, A.I. Artificial Intelligence) are producing the project for Mockingbird Pictures, alongside Karina Miller for Sparkhouse Media.
Brooke & Will Blair Scoring Macon Blair’s ‘I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore’
Brooke Blair and Will Blair have been tapped to score the upcoming indie comedy I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. The film is written and directed by their brother Macon Blair (The Monkey’s Paw) and stars Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood, David Yow, Jane Levy and Devon Graye. The movie follows a a depressed woman who – after being burglarized – finds a new sense of purpose by tracking down the thieves, alongside her obnoxious neighbor. Neil Kopp & Anish Savjani (Green Room, Certain Women, Meek’s Cutoff) are producing the project with Vincent Savino (Blue Ruins) and Mette-Marie Katz.
Mica Levi Scoring Michael Almereyda’s ‘Marjorie Prime’
Mica Levi (aka Micachu) is composing the music for the upcoming sci-fi dramedy Marjorie Prime. The film is written and directed by Michael Almereyda (Nadja, Experimenter, Hamlet) and stars Jon Hamm, Geena Davis, Lois Smith and Tim Robbins. The movie based on Jordan Harrison’s play is set in the near future in a time of artificial intelligence and follows a 86-year-old woman who has a handsome new companion who looks like her deceased husband and is programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. Uri Singer (Experimenter, Open Road) is producing the project.
Bear McCreary Scoring ‘Unrest’
Bear McCreary announced on Twitter that he has composed the music for the upcoming documentary Unrest. The film tells her story of Harvard PhD student Jennifer Brea who is struck down at 28 by a fever that leaves her bedridden, doctors tell her it’s “all in her head.” Determined to live, she sets out on a virtual journey to document her story —and four other families’ stories — fighting a disease medicine forgot. Brea has directed the movie and is also producing the project with Lindsey Dryden and Patricia E. Gillespie. The documentary will premiere next month in competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Jeff Cardoni to Score ‘Once Upon a Time in Venice’ & ‘The Female Brain’
Jeff Cardoni has been hired to score the upcoming action comedy Once Upon a Time in Venice. The film is written and directed by Mark & Robb Cullen (Cop Out, Back in the Game) and stars Bruce Willis, Jason Momoa, Thomas Middleditch, Famke Janssen, John Goodman, Stephanie Sigman, Adrian Martinez, Kal Penn, Emily Robinson, Tyga, Adam Goldberg, Ken Davitian, David Arquette and Victor Orti. The movie follows an L.A.-based private investigator whose professional and personal worlds collide after his loving pet Buddy is stolen by a notorious gang. The Cullen brothers are also producing the project with Voltage Pictures’ Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe), Zev Foreman (Good Kill, Colossal) and Laura Ford.
