Lakeshore Records has announced a score album for Alexandre Aja’s horror thriller Horns. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) who previously scored the Aja-produced Maniac. The soundtrack was released yesterday in the UK and will arrive in the U.S. digitally on October 14. A CD version will be released on November 4 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Horns directed by Aja is based on the best-selling book by Joe Hill and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Heather Graham, David Morse, Joe Anderson, Kelli Garner, Kathleen Quinlan and James Remar. The movie follows a small-town guy who, after being blamed for the death of his longtime girlfriend, awakens one morning to find a pair of horns growing from his head.

‘Rock the Casbah’ Soundtrack Released
Pathé Production has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan drama Rock the Casbah. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Populaire, Alexandre Aja’s upcoming Horns). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Rock the Casbah is written and directed by Laila Marrakchi and stars Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Lubna Azabal, Morjana Alaoui and Omar Sharif. The movie is set in an opulent villa in Tangiers and unfolds over the three days of the rites of mourning dictated by Muslim custom, following the death of a prominent magnate and family patriarch. The drama just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was released in France this past Wednesday, September 11.

Opening in over 3000 theaters is the sci-fi action film Riddick written and directed by David Twohy and starring Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Jodi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Raoul Trujillo and Nolan Gerard Funk. The film’s music is composed by Graeme Revell (Pineapple Express, From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City) who has previoulsy scored the other films in the Riddick trilogy, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. A soundtrack album was originally announced to be released on Back Lot Music, but has since been canceled. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Adore directed by Anne Fontaine and starring Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Xavier Samuel, James Frechevile and Ben Mendelsohn. The film’s original score is composed and conducted by Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander, Daybreakers). Antony Partos (Animal Kingdom) has provided additional music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the music of both composers digitally earlier this week. A CD release is set for September 24. Robin Coudert Scoring Alexandre Aja’s ‘Horns’
Robin Coudert (aka Rob) has composed the score for the upcoming supernatural thriller Horns. The film is directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha, High Tension) and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Joe Anderson, Kelli Garner, Heather Graham, David Morse, Kathleen Quinlan and James Remar. The movie is based on the fantasy/thriller novel by Joe Hill and follows a small town guy blamed for the murder of his girlfriend who awakens one morning to find a pair of horns growing from his head. Keith Bunin (In Treatment) has written the screenplay. Aja is also producing the Red Granite Pictures and Mandalay Pictures production with Cathy Schulman (Crash, The Illusionist), Riza Aziz & Joey McFarland (Friends with Kids, The Wolf of Wall Street).

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is Pixar’s animated film sequel Monsters University directed by Dan Scanion and featuring the voice talent of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi Jennifer Tilly, Frank Oz, John Ratzenberger and Kelsey Grammer. The film’s music is composed by Randy Newman who previously scored 2001’s Monsters, Inc. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as track from Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso of the electronic music trio Swedish House Mafia. Also opening wide is the zombie thriller World War Z directed by Marc Forster and starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale and Matthew Fox. The film’s original score is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma). The thriller also features additional music by Matthew Bellamy performed by Muse. Warner Bros.
