Varese Sarabande has announced the details of The Music of Patrick Doyle: Solo Piano album. The release features highlights from the composer’s film scoring career performed by Doyle himself on the piano. Among the scores featured on the album are Disney’s Cinderella, Mike Newell’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Academy Award-nominated music from Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility, Robert Altman’s Gosford Park, Kenneth Branagh’s Henry V, Alfonso Cuaron’s Great Expectations, A Little Princess, Indochine, Nanny McPhee and more. The soundtrack will be released on July 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Patrick Doyle to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at World Soundtrack Awards
Patrick Doyle has been selected as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the closing-night gala of the 15th World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 24, 2015. The composer is known for his various collaborations on films directed by Kenneth Branagh, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Thor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and this year’s Cinderella. He received two Academy Award nominations for his music for Branagh’s Hamlet and Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility. His other film scoring credits include Pixar’s Brave, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Alfonso Cuaron’s Great Expectations, Robert Altman’s Gosford Park, Mike Newell’s Donnie Brasco and Brian DePalma’s Carlito’s Way.

Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, Stellan Skarsgard, Holliday Grainger, Sophie McShera, Derek Jacobi and Helena Bonham-Carter. The film’s original music is composed by Patrick Doyle (Sense and Sensibility, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Playing in front of Cinderella is Disney’s new animated short Frozen Fever directed by Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Christophe Beck (Edge of Tomorrow, The Muppets, The Hangover) who scored 2013’s feature has also composed the score for the short film, while Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez have contributed a new original song. ‘Cinderella’ Soundtrack Details
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Disney’s family fantasy movie Cinderella. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-nominated composer Patrick Doyle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Sense and Sensibility). Also included is the original end titles song Strong written by Doyle, Kenneth Branagh & Tommy Danvers and performed by Sonna Rele, as well as two new versions of songs from Disney’s animated classic performed by Lily James and Helena Bonham Carter. The soundtrack will be released on March 10, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
Patrick Doyle to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations’
Patrick Doyle has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. The film is directed by Tony Leondis and features a voice cast including Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Bill Murray, Rashida Jones, Jennifer Coolidge, Octavia Spencer and Matt Bomer. The movie follows two bumbling apparitions who find themselves in an extraordinary after-life adventure when they join the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (B.O.O.), the ghost world’s elite counter-haunting unit. Tom Wheeler (Puss in Boots, The Cape) has written the screenplay based on an idea by Leondis and Maryann Garger (Astro Boy, Flushed Away) is producing the movie.

Expanded ‘Dead Again’ Score by Patrick Doyle Released
La-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack album for the 1991 thriller Dead Again directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring himself, Andy Garcia, Emma Thompson and Robin Williams. The album features the expanded and remastered original score composed by Patrick Doyle (Thor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Brave, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Also included are alternates, source cues and two bonus tracks, including an early piano sketch and a synth mock-up. The soundtrack for the Paramount Picture production is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. The CD is limited to 2000 copies.
‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Soundtrack Preview
Audio clips from the soundtrack for Kenneth Branagh’s action thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit have been published. The film’s music is composed by Patrick Doyle (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Thor, Much Ado About Nothing) who recorded his score with the London Symphony Orchestra. The thriller centers on the CIA agent as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot and follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst. The movie will be released nationwide on January 17, 2014 by Paramount Pictures.
