Premiering tonight is the National Geographic documentary Apollo: Missions to the Moon directed by Tom Jennings about the United States’ remarkable journey to land on the Moon before 1970. The film’s original music is composed James Everingham for Bleeding Fingers Music and produced by Hans Zimmer & Russell Emanuel. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Everingham’s score. Check out our previous news article for the full album details.

Also premiering tonight is the CNN docu-series The Movies executive produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman & Mark Herzog and featuring interviews with Steven Spielberg, Julia Roberts, Ron Howard, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, among others. Blake Neely (Arrow, The Flash, Riverdale, Into the West, Life As We Know It) & Nathaniel Blume (The Seventies, The Eighties, Deception) have composed the show’s original music. Dustin O’Halloran & Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) have signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original movie The Old Guard. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond the Lights) and stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling and Veronica Ngo. The action fantasy movie is based on the comic book series of the same title created by author Greg Rucka (who also wrote the screenplay) and illustrator Leandro Fernández and tells the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed.

Jay Wadley has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original movie I’m Thinking of Ending Things. The film is written and directed by Charlie Kaufman (Anomalisa, Synecdoche, New York) and stars Jesse Plemons, Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette and David Thewlis. The drama is based on Iain Reid’s best-selling novel of the same title and follows a man as he is going on a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm with his girlfriend and is thinking of terminating their relationship.

Ian Hultquist Scoring Zak Hilditch’s Netflix Movie ‘Rattlesnake’

Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, A-X-L, Animals, My Blind Brother, The Gospel According to André) is scoring the upcoming Netflix original movie Rattlesnake. The film is written and directed by Zak Hilditch (1922, These Final Hours) and stars Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi and Emma Greenwell. The psychological thriller follows a single mother who accepts the help of a mysterious woman after her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake and finds herself forced to pay back her “debt” by taking the life of a total stranger in the rural town of Tulia, Texas. Ross Dinerstein (The Pact, 6 Balloons, The Innocent Man) is producing the project for Campfire.

Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Lunatics’ to Be Released

Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC) will release a soundtrack album for the Australian Netflix original series Lunatics. The album features the songs from first season of the show written by Chris Lilley. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 5 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Lunatics is created by Lilley (Summer Heights High, Ja’mie: Private School Girl) and follows the peculiar lives of six eccentric – and sometimes obscene – misfits (all played by Lilley) who march to their own beat. The first season of the mockumentary series produced by Lilley & Laura Waters premiered this past April and is now available to stream on Netflix.

Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Dark’ Announced

Lakeshore Records and Invada Records will release the first soundtrack album for the German Netflix original series Dark. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Ben Frost (Super Dark Times, Sleeping Beauty, Fortitude, The Deep). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 28 and will be available to download here. CD and vinyl versions are also in the works and a second album featuring the composer’s score from Season will be released next month. Dark is created by Baran bo Odar & Jantje Friese and tells the story of a missing child who sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations.

Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, June 24, is the British limited series Years and Years created by Russell T. Davies, directed by Simon Celan Jonesand starring Emma Thompson, Russell Tovey, Rory Kinnear, T’Nia Miller, Ruth Madeley, Jessica Hynes and Anne Reid. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who, Torchwood, A Very British Scandal, Gentleman Jack). The drama, which follows an outspoken celebrity business woman turned political figure whose controversial opinions divide the nation, premiered last month in the UK on BBC One and will air stateside on HBO. Missing from last week’s TV music roundup was the British drama MotherFatherSon created and written by Tom Rob Smith and starring Richard Gere, Helen McCrory, Billy Howle, Ciarán Hinds and Elena Anaya. Rob Lane (Merlin, John Adams, A Discovery of Witches, Beowulf, The Damned United) has composed the show’s original music. Dubois Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Score Album Details

Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Stranger Things. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s third season composed by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is also in the works. The label has previously released soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s score from the show’s first and second season. Legacy Recordings will release a separate soundtrack featuring songs from Season 3 of the series created by Matt & Ross Duffer and starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton.

Netflix has announced today that Branford Marsalis is set to compose the music for the upcoming drama Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The film is directed by George C. Wolfe (Lackawanna Blues) and stars Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo and Michael Potts. The film is based on the award-winning play by August Wilson (Fences) and centers on Ma Rainey, the “Queen of the Blues,” as she makes a record in a studio in Chicago, 1927, when tensions boil between her, her white agent and producer, and bandmates.
