John Swihart is composing the music for the upcoming NBC comedy Trial & Error. The show is created by Jeff Astrof (Ground Floor), Matt Miller (Forever, Chuck, Lethal Weapon) and stars John Lithgow, Nick D’Agosto, Steven Boyer, Sherri Shepherd, Jayma Mays and Krysta Rodriguez. The series follows a bright-eyed New York lawyer who heads to a small Southern town to defend an eccentric accused of murder. Astrof and Miller also serve as executive producers on the Warner Bros. Television production. Jeffrey Blitz (Rocket Science, Spellbound) has directed the pilot episode.

Dave Porter to Score NBC’s ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’
Dave Porter has been tapped to score the upcoming NBC drama The Blacklist: Redemption. The show is created by Jon Bokenkamp (Taking Lives) & John Eisendrath (Joy), Lukas Reiter and J.R. Orci and stars Ryan Eggold, Famke Janssen, Edi Gathegi, Tawny Cypress and Adrian Martinez. The series is a spin-off of the network’s The Blacklist, which Porter is also scoring, and revolves around the world’s most elusive criminals from Red’s infamous list who come together to form an elite mercenary team as they try to regain their self-worth after a lifetime of inflicting damage on the world.

Premiering on Wednesday, December 7, is the NBC television event Hairspray LIVE! based on the Broadway musical and starring Maddie Baillio, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Harvey Fierstein, Ariana Grande, Garrett Clayton, Derek Hough, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, Ephraim Sykes and Shahadi Wright Joseph. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the special’s song written by Marc Shaiman (A Few Good Men, The Bucket List) and Scott Wittman (Smash, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and performed by the cast. Also premiering on Wednesday is the new Hulu original series Shut Eye created by Les Bohem and starring Jeffrey Donovan, KaDee Strickland, Isabella Rosselini, David Zayas, Susan Misner and Emmanuelle Chriqui. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Decter (CSI: Cyber, Lethal Weapon, Lucifer, Hostages). Atli Orvarsson to Score NBC’s ‘Chicago Justice’
Atli Orvarsson has been tapped to score the upcoming NBC drama Chicago Justice. The latest spin-off in the network’s Chicago franchise is created by Dick Wolf (Law & Order) and stars Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter and Ryan-James Hatanaka. The show follows the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators who navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on while fearlessly pursuing justice. Wolf is also executive producing the Universal Television production with Peter Jankowski (Law & Order: SVU), Matt Olmstead (Prison Break), Derek Haas & Michael Brandt (3:10 to Yuma, Wanted) and Arthur Forney.
Jacob Groth to Score ‘Flatliners’ Remake & NBC’s ‘Midnight, Texas’
Jacob Groth is set to reteam with director Niels Arden Oplev on the upcoming remake of the sci-fi thriller Flatliners. The film starring Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, Kiefer Sutherland, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons is based on the 1990 feature of the same title (scored by James Newton Howard) about a group of medical students who are exploring near death on the examination table until the consequences began to jeopardize their lives.

Soundtrack for NBC’s ‘Blindspot’ to Be Released
La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the NBC drama Blindspot. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Blake Neely (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Life As We Know It, Everwood). The soundtrack is now available to order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Blindspot is created by Martin Gero, executive produced by Greg Berlanti and stars Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ukweli Roach and Ashley Johnson.
Trevor Morris to Score NBC’s ‘Taken’ TV Series’
Trevor Morris has been tapped to score the upcoming NBC drama Taken. The show stars Clive Standen, Jennifer Beals, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Gaius Charles, Michael Irby, James Landry Hébert and Jose Pablo Cantillo. The series based on the hit movie franchise starring Liam Neeson tells the origin story of younger, hungrier, former Green Beret Bryan Mills as he deals with a personal tragedy and is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative. Luc Besson (The Professional, The Fifth Element, Lucy) is executive producing the EuropaCorp TV and Universal Television production with Alexander Cary (Homeland, Lie to Me), Matthew Gross (Across the Universe, Body of Proof), Edouard de Vésinne, Thomas Anargyros and Alex Graves (Game of Thrones, The West Wing) who directed the pilot episode.

Premiering in the U.S. on Wednesday, August 24, is the Italian crime drama series Gomorrah developed by Giovanni Bianconi, Stefano Bises, Leonardo Fasoli, Ludovica Rampoldi & Roberto Saviano inspired by Matteo Garrone’s 2008 feature film and starring Marco D’Amore and Fortunato Cerlino. Mokadelic has composed the show’s original music. Goodfellas Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the music from the drama.
