Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Despicable Me 3 directed by Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda & Eric Guillon and featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate and Julie Andrews. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (The Angry Birds Movie, The Smurfs) and Pharrell Williams wrote the movie’s original songs. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack featuring the songs (click here for more information) and Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack featuring Pereira’s score (click here for the full details).

Already playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the action comedy Baby Driver written and directed by Edgar Wright and starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Steven Price (Gravity, Suicide Squad, Fury, Attack the Block) wrote the film’s original score. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists including  Simon & Garfunkel, Blur, Kid Koala, Sky Ferreira, The Beach Boys, T. ‘2:22’ Soundtrack Details

2-22The details of the soundtrack album for the romantic thriller 2:22. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Whale Rider, Jane Got a Gun) and James Orr. Also included are the songs Like It Or Not by Bob Moses, Someone to Stay by Vancouver Sleep Clinic and Grow by Frances. The soundtrack will be released digitally within the next couple of weeks by Varese Sarabande. A CD release s scheduled for July 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. 2:22 is directed by Paul Currie and stars Michiel Huisman, Teresa Palmer, Sam Reid and Simone Kessell. The movie follows a man whose life is permanently derailed when an ominous pattern of events repeats itself in exactly the same manner every day, ending at precisely 2:22 PM.

The movie follows a man whose life is permanently derailed when an ominous pattern of events repeats itself in exactly the same manner every day, ending at precisely 2:22 PM. Todd Stein and Nathan Parker (Moon, Equals) have written the screenplay.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

kung-fu-panda-3Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Kung Fu Panda 3 directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Alessandro Carloni and featuring the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, David Cross and J.K. Simmons. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, The Dark Knight) who previously co-scored the first two parts in the series with John Powell. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Vamps and Patrick Brasca feat. Jay Chou. the-finest-hoursAlso opening wide is the disaster drama The Finest Hours directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana. Carter Burwell (Twilight, Fargo, Carol, True Grit) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end titles song Haul Away Joe performed by Kodaline. ‘Jane Got a Gun’ Soundtrack Announced

The album features the film’s original music composed by Lisa Gerrard (Whale Rider, Gladiator) and Marcello De Francisci (Samsara). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Jane Got a Gun is directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle) and stars Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Noah Emmerich, Rodrigo Santoro, Boyd Holbrook and Ewan McGregor. The movie follows a frontier woman who teams with her ex-lover to save her outlaw husband from a gang out to kill him.

‘The Water Diviner’ Soundtrack Released

The album features the film’s original score composed by David Hirschfelder (Elizabeth, Australia, The Railway Man), as well as additional music by Ludovico Einaudi (The Intouchables, Samba), Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Whale Rider) and Richard Tognetti. The soundtrack is now available to download overseas. The film is directed by Gavin O’Connor and stars Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, Rodrigo Santoro, Boyd Holbrook and Noah Emmerich. The movie follows a woman who asks an ex for help to save her outlaw husband from a gang out to kill him. Portman is also producing the project for her Handsomecharlie Films company, alongside Scott Steindorff (The Lincoln Lawyer, The Human Stain), Aleen Keshishian, Terry Dougas, Scott LaStaiti and Regency Boies.

‘I, Frankenstein’ Score Album Details

i-frankensteinLakeshore Records will release the official score album for the action thriller I, Frankenstein. The album features the film’s original music written by Golden Globe-nominated composers Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil (Cloud Atlas, One Hour Photo, The International). Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator) has also contributed additional music for the movie. The soundtrack will be released on January 21, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I, Frankenstein is written and directed by Stuart Beattie and stars Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Socratis Otto, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey and Aden Young. The movie is based on the graphic novel of the same title by Kevin Grevioux and centers on Frankenstein’s monster Adam, who has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation and is being pursued by demons wanting to gain the secret of his reanimated corpse. The thriller will be released nationwide on January 24, 2013 by Lionsgate.

‘Gladiator’ Live to Projection Concert Announced

gladiatorThe 21st Century Symphony Orchestra has announced a concert featuring the world premiere performance of the Academy Award-nominated original score for Ridley Scott’s epic historical drama Gladiator performed live to projection. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard have composed the score for the Oscar-winning film starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix.The music will be performed by over 150 members of the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and the 21st Century Choir under the baton of Ludwig Wicki. Three concerts will be held on two consecutive days on May 4 & 5, 2013 at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland.

‘The Bible’ Soundtrack Details

bibleMercer Street Records will release the official soundtrack album for the History Channel’s mini-series The Bible. The album features the series’ original score composed by Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe and featuring vocals by Lisa Gerrard. The soundtrack will be released on March 5, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from the score below. The Bible created and executive produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey will cover the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, including stories from Noah’s Ark and the Exodus to Daniel in the Lion’s Den to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Downey is starring in the mini-series alongside Diogo Morgado, Sean Teale, David Rintoul, Amber Rose Revah, Peter Guinness, Greg Hicks and Simon Kunz. Keith David is narrating the 10-hour/five-part docudrama, which is set to premiere on March 3.
