Lesley Barber has been tapped to score the upcoming Lifetime original movie Beaches. The film is directed by Allison Anders (Grace of My Heart, Gas, Food Lodging) and stars Idina Menzel, Nia Long, Gabriella Pizzolo, Grace Capeless, Jodi Capeless, Sanai Victoria and Antonio Cupo. The movie is a remake of the 1988 feature of the same title (scored by Georges Delerue) starring Bette Midler and centers on a meeting of two youngsters on the Venice Boardwalk, who, though worlds apart in lifestyle, embark on an unexpected and lifelong friendship. Bart Barker (Supercross) and Nikole Beckwith (About Ray) have written the script based on the novel by Iris Rainer Dart.

Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them directed by David Yates and starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Jon Voight, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo and Alison Sudol. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, The Sixth Sense, King Kong, Maleficent). Also opening wide is the coming-of-age comedy drama The Edge of Seventeen written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, produced by James L. Brooks and starring Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Kyra Sedgwick, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner and Hayden Szeto. Atli Orvarsson (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) has composed the film’s original score. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Santigold, Aimee Mann, The Struts, A$AP Ferg & more. ‘Manchester By the Sea’ Soundtrack Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for Kenneth Lonergan’s drama Manchester by the Sea have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lesley Barber (Mansfield Park, The Moth Diaries) who previously scored the director’s You Can Count On Me. Also included are the classical pieces featured in the movie by George Frideric Handel, Jules Massenet & more. The soundtrack will be released on November 18, 2016 by Milan Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Manchester By the Sea is written and directed by Lonergan and stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Lucas Hedges, Kyle Chandler, Gretchen Mol and C.J. Wilson. The movie revolves around a solitary Boston janitor whose life is transformed when he returns to his hometown to take care of his teenage nephew.
Lesley Barber Scoring Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘Manchester by the Sea’
Lesley Barber is reteaming with director Kenneth Lonergan on the upcoming drama Manchester by the Sea. The film stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Lucas Hedges and Kyle Chandler. The movie follows a man who is forced to return home to care for his 16-year-old nephew after brother passes away and is compelled to deal with a tragic past that separated him from his family and the community where he was born and raised. Lonergan has also written the screenplay. Matt Damon is producing the project with Lauren Beck and Chris Moore (American Pie series, Promised Land, Joy Ride).
Soundtracks for ‘The Samaritan’, ‘The Moth Diaries’, ‘Dorian Gray’ and ‘7 Days in Havana’ Announced
A number of digital-only soundtrack albums by Metropolis Movie Music that have previously only been released overseas are coming out this week in the US. Among the titles is the soundtrack for the thriller The Samaritan. The album features the film’s score composed by Todor Kobakov. Jackson, Luke Kirby, Ruth Nigga and Tom Wilkinson. The film opened in select theaters this past May in the US.

Opening in most theaters is the romantic drama The Lucky One based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, directed by Scott Hicks (Shine) and starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner. The film’s original score is written by Mark Isham. No score album has been announced yet, but WaterTower Music hss released a soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs by artists including Jules Larson, Correatown, Joshua Radin, Early Winters, Voxhaul Broadcast, A Fine Frenzy and Mayfield. A soundtrack album featuring the comedy’s title song performed by Jennifer Hudson & Ne-Yo feat. Rick Ross, as well as other songs from and inspired by the film by artists including John Legend feat.
