Henry Jackman has been hired to score the upcoming drama The Birth of a Nation. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Nate Parker and stars himself, alongside Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, Gabrielle Union and Mark Boone Jr. The movie tells the true story of Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher whose financially strained owner accepts an offer to use his preaching to subdue unruly slaves and devises a plan to lead his people to freedom.

Music from Amazon’s ‘The Man in the High Castle’ Released
Amazon Content Services has released several tracks from the soundtrack for the Amazon Studios original series The Man in the High Castle. Available to download now is the cover version of the Sound of Music song Edelweiss performed by Jeanette Olson as featured in the series. Click here to download the track. Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 15, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Into the Badlands created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and starring Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger and Orla Brady. The show’s original music is composed by David Shephard (Longmire). Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has written the drama’s title theme. Premiering on Tuesday, November 17, is the new NBC drama Chicago Med created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas and starring Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Torrey DeVitto and Rachel DiPillo. Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) who is also scoring NBC’s Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. is composing the show’s original music. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Pixels directed by Chris Columbus and starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Also opening wide is the boxing drama Southpaw directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence and Rita Ora. James Horner (Avatar, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind) composed his last film score for the film, which is also dedicated to the composer. ‘Pixels’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi action comedy Pixels have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It-Ralph). The soundtrack will be released on July 24, 2015 by Varese Sarabande and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Pixels is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox. The movie follows a former arcade gaming champ who is tasked with saving Earth from an invasion of aliens portrayed as giant versions of classic videogame characters, such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
Expanded ‘Nobody’s Fool’ Soundtrack Released
La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for Paramount Pictures’ 1994 drama Nobody’s Fool directed by Robert Benton and starring Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy and Melanie Griffith. The album features the remastered and expanded original score from the film composed and conducted by Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Aviator, Hugo, The Departed), including previously unreleased music, as well as alternates and unused cues. Henry Jackman to Score ‘The 5th Wave’
Henry Jackman is set to score the upcoming action adventure The 5th Wave. The film is directed by J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed) and stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Ron Livingston, Maggie Siff, Alex Roe, Maika Monroe, Zackary Arthur and Live Schreiber. The movie based on the young adult novel by Rick Yancey is set in the present day after four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated and follows a 16-year-old girl who is on the run and desperately trying to save her younger brother. Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Charlotte’s Web, 28 Days) has written the screenplay.

Henry Jackman Scoring Chris Columbus’ ‘Pixels’
Henry Jackman is composing the score for the upcoming sci-fi comedy Pixels. The film is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Brian Cox and Ashley Benson. The movie centers on aliens misinterpreting video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, leading to an attack on Earth. Tim Herlihy (The Wedding Ringer, Bedtime Stories) and Timothy Dowling (Role Models, Just Go With It) have written the screenplay based on a story by Herlihy. Sandler & Allen Covert are producing the project for Happy Madison, along with Columbus, Michael Barnathan (The Help, Night at the Museum) and Mark Radcliffe (Harry Potter series, Mrs. Doubtfire) for 1492 Pictures.
‘The Interview’ and ‘This Is the End’ Score Album Released
The details of La-La Land Records’ and Madison Gate Records’ soundtrack release featuring the scores for Seth Rogen’s & Evan Goldberg’s comedies The Interview and This Is the End have been revealed. The albums feature the films’ original music composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: First Class, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It-Ralph). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes. A limited soundtrack edition CD will be released next month and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Interview starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan and Randall Park follows a TV talk show host and producer who land an interview with Korean dictator Kim Jong-un as an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. The movie is now available on VOD.
