Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) have signed on to score the upcoming comedy drama The Art of Racing in the Rain. The film is directed by Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn, Goodbye Christopher Robin) and stars Milo Ventimiglia, Amanda Seyfried, Gary Cole, Kathy Baker and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The movie is based on Garth Stein’s best-selling novel of the same title and centers on a family dog (voiced by Kevin Costner) who evaluates his life through the lessons learned by his human owner, a professional race-car driver. Mark Bomback (Dawn for/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Wolverine) wrote the screenplay.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (July 27, 2018)
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Mission: Impossible – Fallout directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Cavill, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, Angela Bassett and Sean Harris. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys, The Crown, Genius). Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and La-La Land Records will release a 2-CD version with additional tracks within the next few weeks. To the Movies directed by Aaron Horvath & Peter Rida Michail and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong and Hynden Walch. ‘Puzzle’ Soundtrack to Be Released
Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Puzzle. Thea album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Dustin O’Halloran (Lion, Transparent, Like Crazy, Equals). Also included is the original song Horizons co-written by the composer and performed by Ane Brun. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 27, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Puzzle is directed by Marc Turtletaub and stars Kelly Macdonald, Irrfan Khan, David Denman, Bubba Weiler, Austin Abrams and Liv Hewson. The movie revolves around a housewife whose life takes a turn when she enters the world of competitive jigsaw puzzling.
Dustin O’Halloran to Score George Tillman Jr.’s ‘The Hate U Give’
Dustin O’Halloran has signed on to score the upcoming drama The Hate U Give. The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. (Men of Honor, Notorious, Faster) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, KJ Apa, Russell Hornsby, Algee Smith, Lamar Johnson and Common. The movie is based on Angela Thomas’ novel of the same name and centers on a 16-year-old girl who witnesses a police officer shoot her unarmed best friend and is torn between her two very different worlds as she tries to speak her truth.
Soundtrack Album for Sky Atlantic’s ‘Save Me’ to Be Released
SATV will release a soundtrack album for the Sky Atlantic series Save Me. The album features the original music from the show’s first season composed by Academy Award nominee Dustin O’Halloran (Lion, Transparent, Like Crazy) and Bryan Senti (Experimenter, Lowriders). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 18, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Save Me is created by Lennie James, directed by Nick Murphy and stars James himself, alongside Suranne Jones, Stephen Graham, Jason Flemyng, Susan Lynch, Kerry Godliman, Nadine Marshall and Barry Ward. The drama is set on a southeast London housing estate and follows a man who is falsely accused of a terrible crime an determines to clear his name and find the real perpetrator.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror thriller Jigsaw directed by Peter & Michael Spierig and starring Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, Hannah Emily Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Mandela Van Peebles, Paul Braunstein, Brittany Allen and Josiah Black. Charlie Clouser (Wayward Pines, Resident Evil: Extinction) who previously scored all movies in the Saw series has composed the film’s original music. The film is directed by Marc Turtletaub (producer of Little Miss Sunshine, Loving & Safety Not Guaranteed) and stars Kelly Macdonald, Irrfan Khan, David Denman, Bubba Weiler, Austin Abrams and Liv Hewson. The movie revolves around suburban mother whose world is consumed with caring for the men in her family and whose word begins to open when she discovers she has a gift for assembling puzzles. Annie Baker and Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Love & Mercy) wrote the screenplay based on the 2010 Argentine film Rompecabezas.

Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka have signed on to score the upcoming historical drama The Current War. The film is directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Katherine Waterston, Nicholas Hoult, Matthew Macfayden and Tom Holland. The movie takes place in the late 1880s and revolves around power titans Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse’s battle over the supply of electricity. Michael Mitnick (The Giver) wrote the screenplay. Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) is producing the project with Basil Iwanyk (Sicario, The Town, John Wick).
Dustin O’Halloran to Score Sky Atlantic’s ‘Save Me’
Dustin O’Halloran has been tapped to score the upcoming Sky Atlantic series Save Me. The show is created by actor Lennie James (The Walking Dead, Critical) who also stars in the drama alongside Suranne Jones and Stephen Graham. The 6-parter centers on a man who is falsely accused of a terrible crime and sets off to clear his name and find the real perpetrator. Nick Murphy (The Awakening, Blood, The Last Kingdom) is directing the show. Simon Heath (Line of Duty, United) and Jessica Sykes are executive producing the project. Save Me is expected to premiere later this year on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
A Winged Victory for the Sullen Scoring Francis Lee’s ‘God’s Own Country’
A Winged Victory for the Sullen (aka Dustin O’Halloran & Adam Wiltzie) have composed the music for the British drama God’s Own Country. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Francis Lee and stars Josh O’Connor, Alec Secareanu, Ian Hart and Gemma Jones. The movie follows a young farmer in Yorkshire who numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets him on a new path. Manon Ardisson and Jack Tarling are producing the project.
