Also opening wide is the animated feature Teen Titans Go! To the Movies directed by Aaron Horvath & Peter Rida Michail and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong and Hynden Walch. Jared Faber (Splitting Up TogetherSuburgatory) has composed the film’s original score and also co-wrote the original songs for the movie with Jacob Jeffries, Michael Jelenic & Peter Rida Michail. Opening in limited release is the drama Puzzle directed by Marc Turtletaub and starring Kelly Macdonald, Irrfan Khan, David Denman, Bubba Weiler, Austin Abrams and Liv Hewson. The film’s original music is composed by Dustin O’Halloran (LionTransparentLike CrazyEquals). He also co-wrote the original song Horizons with Ane Brun. Also opening in limited release is the thriller Hot Summer Nights written and directed by Elijah Bynum and starring Timothée Chalamet, Maika Monroe, Alex Roe and Maia Mitchell. Will Bates (The Path, Rise, The Looming Tower, I, Origins, Another Earth) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a teenager who gets in over his head dealing drugs with the neighborhood rebel while pursuing his new partner’s enigmatic sister. The thriller premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in theaters by A24 and is now also available on DirecTV Cinema.

Opening in New York before expanding to more cities over the next couple of weeks is the German drama The Captain (Der Hauptmann) directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Max Hubacher, Milan Peschel, Frederick Lau and Alexander Fehling. The film’s original music is composed by Martin Todsharow (Desert Flower3096 DaysAtomised). Königskinder and Milan Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Another limited release this week is the documentary Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood directed by Matt Tyrnauer about Scotty Bowers, a handsome ex-Marine who landed in Hollywood after World War II and became confidante, aide de camp and lover to many of Hollywood’s greatest stars. Jane Antonia Cornish (Fireflies in the Garden, Island of Lost Souls) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in select cities while also premiering on Netflix today is the documentary The Bleeding Edge directed by Kirby Dick about the fast-growing medical device industry. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Appaloosa, Monk, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, Rome, Ugly Betty) has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which reveals how the rush to innovate can lead to devastating consequences for patients, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is now also available to stream on Netflix.
