Dominik Scherrer is composing the music for the upcoming BBC mini-series The City and the City. The drama is developed by Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Tideland) based on the novel of the same title by China Mieville and stars David Morrisey, Maria Schrader, Christian Camargo, Mandeep Dhillon, Ron Cook and Danny Webb. The 4-parter follows the investigation of a detective in the Extreme Crime Squad of the fictional rundown European city of Beszel, into the death of a foreign student.

Dominik Scherrer to Score Netflix’s & BBC’s ‘Requiem’
Dominik Scherrer has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix and BBC series Requiem. The show is created by Cris Mrksa (The Slap, Underbelly) and stars Lydia Wilson, Joel Fry, Tara Fitzgerald, James Frecheville, Claire Rushbrook, Richard Harrington, Joanna Scanlan, Brendan Coyle, Sian Reese Williams, Dyfan Dwyfor and Ifan Huw Thomas. The psychological thriller centers around a young woman, who, in the wake of her mother’s death, sets out to learn the truth about herself. Willow Grylls, Elaine Pyke & Charlie Pattinson (Shameless, Skins, The White Queen) are executive producing New Pictures production with Mrska and Christopher Aird (Call the Midwife).

Dominik Scherrer has been tapped to score the Amazon original series The Collection. The show is created Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars) and stars Richard Coyle, Tom Riley, Frances de la Tour, Mamie Gummer, Max Deacon, Irène Jacob, Michael Kitchen and James Cosmo. The drama is set after World War II and centers around an illustrious Paris fashion house, emerging from the dark days of the Occupation, now ushering in a new golden age of design and business. Goldstick is also executive producing the Lookout Point and Artis Pictures production with Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, Camelot), Kate Croft, Pascal Breton, Simon Vaughan (War And Peace, Parade’s End), Médéric Albouy and Toma de Matteis.

Dominik Scherrer has recently recored his score for the upcoming BBC mini-series One of Us. The show is created by Jack & Harry Williams (The Missing) and stars Laura Fraser, Juliet Stevenson, Joanna Vanderham, John Lynch, Adrian Edmondson, Georgina Campbell, Kate Dickie, Joe Dempsie, Julie Graham, Gary Lewis and Steve Evets. The drama is set in rural Scotland and explores the fallout for the grieving relatives of a horrific double murder that rocks the lives of two families living side-by-side. Jack & Harry Williams are also executive producing the project with Christopher Aird (Call the Midwife, Hunted).
Soundtrack Details for BBC’s ‘An Inspector Calls’ and ‘Doctor Foster’
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC movie An Inspector Calls directed by Aisling Walsh, based on the novel by J.B. Priestley and starring David Thewlis, Miranda Richardson, Ken Stott, Kyle Soller and Sophie Rundle. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Primeval). The soundtrack will be released on September 11, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label will also release a soundtrack album for the BBC series Doctor Foster created by Mike Bartlett and starring Suranne Jones, Bertie Carvel, Robert Pugh and Adam James.
‘Ripper Street’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC series Ripper Street. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Dominik Scherrer (Primeval, The Missing). The soundtrack will be released overseas on June 15 and is now available as an import on Amazon. Ripper Street is created by Richard Warlow (Mistress) and stars Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg, Myanna Buring and David Dawson.The series is set in and around Whitechapel in London’s East End in 1889 during the aftermath of the Jack the Ripper murders and centers on the notorious H Division, which is charged with keeping order in the chaotic East London streets.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the second part of the Worricker trilogy, Turks & Caicos directed by David Hare and starring Bill Nighy as MI5 spy Johnny Worricker, alongside Christopher Walken, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes. The film’s original music is composed by Paul Englishby (An Englishby, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) who previously scored Hare’s Page Eight. The composer also scored the final part in the trilogy, Salting the Battlefield.
