Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Rio 2 directed by Carlinhos Brown and featuring the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am, Jemaine Clement, Rodrigo Santoro, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Jamie Foxx, Rita Moreno, Bruno Mars and Kristin Chenoweth. The film’s original’s music is composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon) and Sergio Mendes serves as the film’s executive music producer. Also opening wide is the sports drama Draft Day directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Sam Elliot, Sean Combs, Terry Crews, Ellen Burstyn and Chadwick Boseman. John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. The only movie to open wide this weekend is the drama Out of the Furnace co-written and directed by Scott Cooper and starring Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoe Saldana and Sam Shepard. The film’s original score is composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter’s Tale, Last Chance Harvey). Opening in limited release is the drama Inside Llewyn Davis directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund and Justin Timberlake. Nonesuch Records has released a soundtrack album produced by T Bone Burnett and the Coen Brothers, which features 12 new recordings made for the film performed by the movie’s cast, an existing recording by Dave Van Ronk, as well as a previously unreleased version of the song Farewell by Bob Dylan. Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album for the the drama Out of the Furnace. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter‘s Bone, Last Chance Harvey). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on 
Dickon Hinchliffe has been tapped to score the upcoming real-time thriller Locke. The film is written and directed by Steven Knight (screenwriter of Eastern Promises and Dirty Pretty Things) and stars Tom Hardy in the title role as Ivan Locke who has the perfect family and a dream job, but a phone call forces him to make a decision that will put it all on the line. Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson, Tom Holland and Andrew Scott are co-starring. Paul Webster (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice) is producing the IM Global production with Guy Heeley for Shoebox Films. Joe Wright is executive producing. Knight previously collaborated with composer Dario Marianelli on his feature directorial debut 
Dickon Hinchliffe is the composer of the upcoming indie comedy drama Hateship, Loveship. The film is directed by Liza Johnson (Return) and stars Kristen Wiig, Guy Pearce, Hailee Steinfeld, Nick Nolte, Christine Lahti and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The movie on follows a nanny who is set up romantically by the granddaughter of an old man she takes care of. Mark Poirier (Smart People, Goats) wrote the screenplay based on Alice Munro’s novel Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage. Dylan Sellers (Footloose, Agent Cody Banks), Cassian Elwes (The Paperboy, Men at Work), Robert Ogden Barnum, Jamin O’Brien, Michael Benaroya (Margin Call, Lawless) are producing the Benaroya Pictures production. 
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi adventure After Earth directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith. The film’s music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village) who regularly works with the director. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally earlier this week. The CD version is currently set to be released on June 11. Check out 
Also opening wide is the heist thriller Now You See Me directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson, Michael Kelly, Dave Franco and Common. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast Five, The Expendables) composed the film’s original score. Glassnote Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from Tyler’s score, as well as Two Door Cinema Club’s Sun, Phoenix’s Entertainment and a remix of Tyler’s score by Robert DeLong. Also opening wide is the ensemble romantic comedy The Big Wedding written and directed by Justin Zackham and starring Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace. Nathan Barr (Hostel, True Blood) has composed the film’s original score. The composer has also co-written the original song It’s a Wonderful Life with Lisbeth Scott for the project. No soundtrack album has been announced at this point. The movie centers on a modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco.
