David Wingo revealed in a recent interview with GoSeeTalk.com that he is currently co-scoring the upcoming indie drama State Like Sleep with Jeff McIlwain. The film is written and directed by Meredith Danluck and stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans and Mark O’Brien. The movie revolves around a woman whose celebrity husband commits suicide and starts to discover his double life and to struggle with the truth to unanswered questions. Eddie Vaisman (In a World…) is producing the project with Julie Lebedev and Angel Lopez (Dear White People).

Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Rio 2 directed by Carlinhos Brown and featuring the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am, Jemaine Clement, Rodrigo Santoro, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Jamie Foxx, Rita Moreno, Bruno Mars and Kristin Chenoweth. The film’s original’s music is composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon) and Sergio Mendes serves as the film’s executive music producer. John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Soundtrack Details for David Gordon Green’s ‘Joe’
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for David Gordon Green’s indie drama Joe. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff McIlwain and David Wingo (Mud, Take Shelter) who previously collaborated with the director on Snow Angels and The Sitter, George Washington and All the Real Girls. Also included are two tracks by Explosions in the Sky and Ryan Bingham. The soundtrack will be released on April 22, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Joe is based on a novel by Larry Brown and stars Nicolas Cage, Tye Sheridan, Gary Poulter and Ronnie Gene Blevins. The movie follows a hard-living, hot-tempered, ex-con who meets a hard-luck kid who awakens in him a fierce and tender-hearted protector. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and was picked up by Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate for a release in theaters and on VOD on April 11.
David Gordon Green’s ‘Joe’ to Feature Music by David Wingo and Jeff McIlwain
David Wingo and Jeff McIlwain are reuniting with director David Gordon Green on his latest feature Joe. The Southern drama stars Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan and follows an ex-con who becomes the unlikeliest of role models to a 15-year-old child of a homeless family ruled by a drunk father. Gary Hawkins wrote the screenplay based on the novel of the same title by Larry Brown. Lisa Muskat (Compliance), Gordon Green and Christopher Woodrow (The Immigrant) are producing the project with Derrick Tseng (Palindromes). Wingo and McIlwain previously shared scoring duties on Gordon Green’s Snow Angels and The Sitter, while Wingo also scored the director’s George Washington and All the Real Girls.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the ensemble romantic comedy New Year’s Eve directed by Garry Marshall and starring Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Jon Bon Jovi, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Josh Duhamel, Seth Meyers, Hector Elizondo, Abigail Breslin, Michelle Pfeiffer and Katherine Heigl. John Debney has written movie’s score, but no score album has been released so far. ‘The Sitter’ Soundtrack Released
Sony Music has released the official soundtrack for David Gordon Green’s comedy The Sitter. The album features one track from the movie’s score by David Wingo and Jeff McIlwain, as well as several songs from the film by artists including The Sugarhill Gang, Slick Rick, Cluts, Pharcyde, The Jungle Brothers, Raphael Saadiq, Escort, Kreayshawn and Omega Watts featuring DJ DNA. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album after the jump. The Sitter stars Jonah Hill as a college student who has a night to remember when he gets talked into baby-sitting the eccentric kids next door.
David Wingo & Jeff McIlwain to Score David Gordon Green’s ‘The Sitter’
David Wingo and Jeff McIlwain have signed on to score David Gordon Green’s comedy The Sitter. The film stars Jonah Hill, Sam Rockwell, Ari Grayner, Erin Daniels, Jessica Hecht and Method Man. The movie follows a college student, suspended for the semester and living at home with his single mom, who has a night to remember when he gets talked into baby-sitting the eccentric kids next door. Michael De Luca (The Social Network) is producing. Gordon Green has previously collaborated with Wingo on all of his early independent features including George Washington and All the Real Girls, which the composer co-scored with Michael Linnen. Wingo and Linnen also contributed additional music for the Philip Glass-scored thriller Undertow. Wingo and McIlwain first collaborated on the 2007 drama Snow Angels starring Kate Beckinsale.
