Knitting Factory has released a soundtrack album for the thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The album features the film’s original score composed by Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids), as well as several songs featured in the film by artsist including Amy Ryan, Atif Aslam and Zahra Khan. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is directed by Mira Nair and stars Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Liev Schreiber and Kiefer Sutherland. The movie follows a young Pakistani working on Wall Street and chasing the American dream, whose life is fateful changed by the September 11 attacks.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (April 26, 2013)
Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Pain & Gain directed by Michael Bay and starring Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Anthony Mackie, Bar Paly, Tony Shalhoub, Rebel Wilson and Ken Jeong. The film’s original score is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series, Gangster Squad). Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Also opening wide is the ensemble romantic comedy The Big Wedding written and directed by Justin Zackham and starring Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace. Nathan Barr (Hostel, True Blood) has composed the film’s original score. The composer has also co-written the original song It’s a Wonderful Life with Lisbeth Scott for the project. No soundtrack album has been announced at this point. The movie centers on a modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. Michael Andrews Scoring Paul Feig’s ‘The Heat’
Michael Andrews is reteaming with Paul Feig on the upcoming buddy cop comedy The Heat. The composer has previously scored last year’s hit comedy Bridesmaids for the director. The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as a high-strung FBI agent and Melissa McCarthy as an unconventional Boston cop who team to take down a Russian gangster. Tony Hale, Bill Burr, Demian Bichir and Michael Rapaport are co-starring in the comedy. Kate Dippold (Parks and Recreation) has written the film’s script and Peter Chernin (New Girl), Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Jenno Topping (Country Strong, Guess Who) are producing the project.
Michael Andrews Scoring ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’
Michael Andrews is currently scoring the upcoming political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The film is directed by Mira Nair and stars Kate Hudson, Riz Ahmed, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber, Martin Donovan and Om Puri. The film based on Mohsin Hamid’s novel with the same title follows a young Pakistani man working on Wall Street and chasing the American dream, whose life is fateful changed by the September 11 attacks. William Wheeler (The Hoax) and Ami Boghani have adapted the material for the screen and Lydia Dean Pilcher (The Darjeeling Limited, The Namesake) is producing the film. The thriller marks the second international production of the Doha Film Institute following last year’s Black Gold, which was scored by James Horner.
