Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the French Netflix limited series Class Act (Tapie). The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, Beauty and the Dogs, The Man Who Sold His Skin, Four Daughters, Gagarine). Also included are two songs performed by lead actor Laurent Lafitte. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. Class Act is created by Tristan Séguéla & Olivier Demangel and also stars, Joséphine Japy, Patrick d’Assumçao, Camille Chamoux, Antoine Reinartz and Hakim Jemili. The biographical period drama tells the story of Bernard Tapie, a relentlessly ambitious working-class man as he becomes one of France’s most controversial public figures.

Amine Bouhafa to Score Sébastien Laudenbach’s ‘Carmen’
Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, Four Daughters, Beauty and the Dogs, Gagarine, The Man Who Sold His Skin) is set to compose the score for an upcoming animated film adaptation of Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen. The composer will incorporate melodies of the opera and also create original compositions for the movie directed by Sébastien Laudenbach (The Girl Without Hands). Damien Brunner (Ernest & Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia) & Sarah Delmas are producing the project for Folivari, Veronica Lassenius and Pablo Jordi (Fungi) for Pikkukala and Pierre-Henri Léon for La Garde Montante.
‘Animalia’ Soundtrack Released
22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan sci-fi drama Animalia. The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, The Summit of the Gods, Four Daughters, Gagarine, Beauty and the Dogs, The Man Who Sold His Skin). Animalia is written and directed by Sofia Alaoui and stars Oumaïma Barid and Mehdi Dehbi. The movie revolves around a young Moroccan woman from a modest rural background who finds herself separated from her privileged husband and new family when supernatural events put the country in a state of emergency.
‘Alma Viva’ Soundtrack Released
22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the Portuguese/French drama Alma Viva. The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, Four Daughters, Beauty and the Dogs, Gagarine, The Summit of the Gods, The Man Who Sold His Skin). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. Alma Viva is written and directed by Cristèle Alves Meira and stars Lua Michel, Ana Padrao, Jacqueline Corado, Duarte Pina and Catherine Salée. The movie is set in a Portuguese mountain village and tells the story of a young girl who becomes possessed by the spirit of her late grandmother.
‘Four Daughters’ Soundtrack Released
22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Four Daughters (Les filles d’Olfa). The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, Beauty and the Dogs, The Summit of the Gods, Gagarine, The Man Who Sold His Skin). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services overseas (visit Apple Music/iTunes to check out audio samples). No word yet on a domestic release. Four Daughters is written and directed by Kaouther Ben Hania and tells the story of Tunisia’s Olfa Hamrouni and her daughters. The movie explores a complex family history through intimate interviews and reenactments to examine how the two eldest were radicalized and disappeared.
‘For Better and for Worse’ Soundtrack Released
Gaumont has released a soundtrack album for the French comedy For Better and for Worse (Un homme heureux). The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, The Summit of the Gods, Beauty and the Dogs, The Man Who Sold His Skin, Gagarine). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. is directed by Tristan Séguéla and stars Fabrice Luchini, Catherine Frot, Philippe Katerine and Artus. The movie follows the conservative mayor of a small town who is in the middle of a re-election campaign when his devoted wife of forty years tells him she wants to become a man.
Weekly Film Music Roundup (April 1, 2022)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie Morbius directed by Daniel Espinosa and starring Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Al Madrigal, Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson. The film’s original music is composed by Jon Ekstrand (Life, Child 44, Easy Money, Borg vs. McEnroe, Queen of Hearts, I Am Greta). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released next week by Madison Gate Records. The full album details will be announced soon. Three new movies have opened in theaters nationwide this past Wednesday:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Encanto directed by Byron Howard & Jared Bush and starring Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero,Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Rhenzy Feliz, Mauro Castillo and Carolina Gaitan. The film’s original score is composed by Germaine Franco (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Dope, Tag, Little) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana, Hamilton, In the Heights) has written the movie’s original songs. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score last Friday and a CD version will be coming out next month. Also opening wide is the biographical crime drama House of Gucci directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Reeve Carney, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire, The Town) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records & Decca Records are set to release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet.
