‘Acid’ Soundtrack Released

Pathé Films has released a soundtrack album for the French horror thriller Acid (Acide). The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Revenge, Gretel & Hansel, Run Sweetheart RunOther People’s ChildrenHorns). Also included is the original end credits track Futures by Saycet. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. Acid is co-written and directed by Just Philippot and stars Guillaume Canet, Laetitia Dosch and Patience Munchenbach. The movie based on Philippot’s short of the same title follows a girl and her divorced parents who must join forces to confront and try to escape a climate catastrophe. Read the rest of this entry »

Premiering in the U.S. is the British limited series The Gold written by Neil Forsyth and starring Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden, Tom Cullen, Dominic Cooper, Charlotte Spencer, Emun Elliott, Sean Harris, Stefanie Martini and Ellora Torchia. The show’s original music is composed by Simon Goff. Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the drama premiered in the UK on BBC One. Premiering on Tuesday, September 19, is the Netflix original documentary The Saint of Second Chances directed by Morgan Neville and narrated by Jeff Daniels. Daniel Wohl (Project Blue Book, On the Come Up, The Weekend Away, Tales of the Walking Dead, Search Party, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead) has composed the film’s original score. The movie, which follows Mike Veeck on his journey to redeem himself after he blew up the career of his hustler father, Hall of Fame baseball owner Bill Veeck, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix. Carlos Rafael Rivera has recently been scoring the upcoming AMC limited series Monsieur Spade. The show is created by Scott Frank (The Lookout, Logan, Minority Report) & Tom Fontana (Oz, Borgia) and stars Clive Owen, Cara Bossom, Denis Ménochet, Chiara Mastroianni, Louise Bourgoin, Stanley Weber, Jonathan Zaccaï, Matthew Beard and Rebecca Root. The 6-part crime drama is set in the 1960s and centers on legendary Detective Sam Spade, the infamous protagonist of American writer Dashiell Hammett’s 1930 classic novel The Maltese Falcon. Hollywood Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1993 survival drama Alive directed by Frank Marshall and starring Ethan Hawke, Josh Hamilton, Bruce Ramsay, Vincent Spano, lleana Douglas, John Haymes Newton and Danny Nucci. The album features the film’s original music composed and produced by Academy Award nominee James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, The Sixth Sense, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, King Kong, Maleficent, The Fugitive). The label has previously released a CD (and cassette) version when the movie opened in theaters in 1993 and Intrada Records has released a 2-CD version featuring the composer’s expanded score in 2020. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural thriller A Haunting in Venice directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Branagh himself, Kyle Allen, Tina Fey, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill, Kelly Reilly and Michelle Yeoh. The film’s original music is composed by Hildur Guđnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Women TalkingTar, Sicario: Day of the Soldado). Opening semi-wide in around 700 theaters is the stop-motion animated feature The Inventor written and directed by Jim Capobianco, co-directed by Pierre-Luc Granjon and starring Daisy Ridley, Marion Cotillard, Stephen Fry and Matt Berry. Alex Mandel (Your Friend the RatSuper Giant Robot Brothers) has composed the film’s original score and songs. Photo Finish Records has released the second song from the animated sequel Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Bark to the Beat co-written (with Rachel Kanner & Cody Tarpley) performed by McKenna Grace (who stars as Skye) and blackbear. Netflix announced this week that Aska Matsumiya (After Yang, Skate Kitchen, Bruised, Betty, I’m Your WomanSelah and the Spades) has been hired to score the streamer’s upcoming Japanese original series Beyond Goodbye. The show is written by Yoshikazu Okada (If Cats Disappeared from the World, The 8-Year Engagement), directed by Hiroshi Kurosaki (Gift of Fire, Second Virginity) and stars Kasumi Arimura and Kentaro Sakaguchi. The romantic drama follows a young woman who suddenly loses her fiancé in a traffic accident and later meets a man who strangely reminds her of her ex-partner, not knowing he had received her fiancé’s heart a few months prior to their encounter. Walt Disney Records has released original cast recording album for Rogers: The Musical, the one-act musical theater production inspired by the fictional Broadway musical theater sequence featured in the first episode of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Hawkeye. The album features five all-new, original songs written specifically for this production by film/TV/video game composer Christopher Lennertz (The Boys, Agent Carter, Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Sausage Party, Supernatural) and lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Lennertz, and Alex Karukas. Also included is Save the City (from Hawkeye) composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman & Scott Wittman, as well as Star-Spangled Man (from Captain America: The First Avenger) written by Alan Menken & David Zippel.
