Brian Tyler has been hired to score the horror sequel Final Destination 5. He previously scored the fourth part of the franchise The Final Destination, which was the first one released in 3D and turned out to be the highest grossing entry in the series. Final Destination 5 marks the live action feature directing debut for Steven Quale, who previously co-directed the 2005 documentary Aliens of the Deep alongside James Cameron. The film stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. The new movie follows the concept of the previous parts and sees a new batch of victims, co-workers on a corporate retreat, escaping the collapse of a city’s suspension bridge. Film Music Reporter has learned that Edward Shearmur has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming comedy Jumping the Broom. He is replacing composers Wendy and Lisa (Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman), who have previously been hired to score the film as reported last November. The movie directed by Salim Akil stars Angela Bassett, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Loretta Devine, Mike Epps and Julie Bowen and centers around two very different African American families that converge on Martha’s Vineyard one weekend for a wedding. Jumping the Broom will be released for Mother’s Day weekend on May 6, 2011 by Sony Pictures. Relativity Music Group has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi romance thriller The Adjustment Bureau. The album includes Thomas Newman’s original score from the film, as well as the song The Future’s Bright, which was written for the film by Newman and singer/songwriter Richard Ashcroft (former frontman of The Verve). Dick and is directed by George Nolfi. Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

The teen sci-fi action movie I Am Number Four directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Alex Pettyfer, Dianne Agron, Timothy Olyphant and Teresa Palmer features a score by Trevor Rabin, as well as many songs from such artists as Beck, Kings of Leons and The Black Keys. No soundtrack album has been announced for the Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg-produced movie. There is about 45 minutes of Rabin’s score in the film, which would make a soundtrack release a definite possibility. Check back on this site if an announcement will be made.

Also opening is the mystery thriller Unknown directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Liam Neeson, January Jones, Diane Kruger, Frank Langella and Aidan Quinn. The music for the Joel Silver-produced movie is written by John Ottman and Alexander Rudd. Margin Call is a thriller that revolves around the key people at a investment bank over a 24-hour period during the early stages of the financial crisis. The film marks the feature directing debut of J.C. Chandor and stars Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley, Simon Baker, Mary McDonnell, Stanley Tucci and Demi Moore. ‘Drive Angry’ Soundtrack announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the action movie Drive Angry 3D. The album includes the original score by composer Michael Wandmacher. The soundtrack will be available digitally on February 22, 2011 and will get a CD release on March 8. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. An iTunes link will be added once the album becomes available. Drive Angry 3D centers around a vengeful father, who chases after the men who killed his daughter. The film directed by Patrick Lussier and starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard will be released in theaters on February 25. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the TV show In Treatment. The album includes the original score from the first two seasons of the HBO drama composed by Richard Marvin. Marvin is most well known for his features scores for U-571 and Surrogates, as well as for his music for the HBO show Six Feet Under. The soundtrack was released digitally earlier this week and can be downloaded on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips from the album. In Treatment centers around a psychotherapist played by Gabriel Byrne, who questions his abilities and gets help by reuniting with his old therapist, whom he has not seen for ten years. Cliff Martinez has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Contagion. The film directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!) centers on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak. The movie’s cast includes Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Ehle, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Cranston and John Hawkes. Film Music Reporter has learned that the composer duo of Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil is scoring the upcoming action thriller The Killer Elite. The film directed by Gary McKendry stars Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen, Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic Purcell and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The movie is based on the Ranulph Fiennes novel The Feather Men and and follows a group of former British special forces members who are being hunted by assassins. Among the film’s producers is Michael Boughen, who produced last year’s Australian hit movie Tomorrow, When the War Began, which featured a score by Klimek & Heil. Aaron Zigman is currently scoring the upcoming comedy Madea’s Big Happy Family starring and directed by Tyler Perry. Zigman has become Perry’s regular film composer, having scored the director’s last seven movies, most recently last year’s drama For Colored Girls. Madea’s Big Happy Family co-stars Loretta Devine, Bow Wow. The film is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2011 by Lionsgate.
