Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming sci-fi movie Source Code. The album features the original score by Chris Bacon and is scheduled for a release on March 29, 2011. ‘Your Highness’ Soundtrack details

Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming fantasy comedy Your Highness. The album features the original score composed by Steve Jablonsky and will be released on April 5, 2011. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Your Highness is directed by David Gordon Green and stars Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Justin Theroux and Zooey Deschanel. The movie centers on an arrogant, lazy prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom. Universal Pictures will release the movie on April 8. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

The action movie Drive Angry 3D directed by Patrick Lussier and starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard features music by Michael Wandmacher. A soundtrack album featuring the original score is now available on iTunes and will be released on CD on March 8 by Lakeshore Records. Also opening wide this weekend is the comedy Hall Pass. The film is directed by the Farrelly Brothers and stars Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate, Jenna Fisher and Richard Jenkins. The movie centers on a married man, who is granted the opportunity to have an affair by his wife. Hall Pass features a number of songs, but no original score (even though a cue named Card Sting written by Mike Post for the TV show Law & Order is used several times during the film). No plans for a soundtrack release have been announced.

Christophe Beck is reteaming with director Todd Philips to score the comedy sequel The Hangover Part II. The first part released in 2009 still marks Beck’s highest grossing movie of his career. The project marks the fourth collaboration between Beck and Philips, who also worked together on School for Scoundrels and last year’s Due Date. In The Hangover sequel, the characters from the first part travel to Bangkok and find trouble when Stu (Ed Helms) gets married in the exotic location of Thailand. Apart from Helms, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha all return for the sequel. Also returning are Ken Jeong and Mike Tyson. They are joined by new cast members Jamie Chung, Juliette Lewis and Liam Neeson, who will make an appearance in the film. Warner Bros will release the movie on May 26, 2011. According to The Hollywood Reporter, William Ross will be conducting the 83rd Academy Awards this Sunday. He previously conducted the 79th Oscars back in 2007. Ross is most well known as a conductor and orchestrator for such composers as Alan Silvestri and John Powell. Ross has also written numerous feature scores, including The Tale of Desperaux, Ladder 49, Tin Cup and My Dog Skip. Check out our previous article on Ross’ upcoming projects.

Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details for the upcoming soundtrack release for the French historical drama The Princess of Montpensier. The album includes 15 tracks of Philippe Sarde’s original score from the film. The score was recorded with the Pro Arte Orchestra of London. The soundtrack album will be released on April 5, 2011. The movie directed by Bertrand Tavernier (Round Midnight, In the Electric Mist) centers on the love of Marie de Mezières for her dashing cousin Henri de Guise, thwarted when her father’s political ambitions force her into marriage with the well-connected Philippe de Montpensier, who she has never met. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger. The film’s music is written by Trevor Jones. The album comes in a 2 disc set and includes over 90 minutes of Jones’ original score. The newly remixed edition of the soundtrack is limited to 2000 copies. According to Nathan Barr’s Facebook fan page, the composer has been hired to score the upcoming crime comedy 30 Minutes or Less. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who worked with composer David Sardy on the 2009 hit horror comedy Zombieland. In 30 Minutes or Less, two fledgling criminals kidnap a pizza delivery driver and force him to rob a bank within 30 minutes. The comedy stars Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson and Michael Pena. Sony Pictures will release the movie on August 12, 2011. Read the rest of this entry »

The Playlist recently reported that Nick Cave has confirmed to Triple R that he will be scoring the upcoming western The Wettest County in the World. Cave has already written the screenplay for the movie based on a novel by Matt Bondurant. The composer reunites with director John Hillcoat, who worked with Cave on his previous movies The Proposition and The Road. No word yet on if Cave’s co-composer Warren Ellis will be involved on the new project. The Wettest County in the World stars Shia Labeouf, Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Jason Clarke. The film revolves around a moonshine gang operating in the bootlegging capital of America — Franklin County, Va. — during Prohibition. ‘Beastly’ Soundtrack albums announced

Lakeshore Records has announced two different soundtrack albums for the upcoming teen fantasy romance Beastly. The score album features the original score from the movie by composer Marcelo Zarvos. A separate song album will include songs from the film from such artists as Hanover Swain, Regina Spektor, The Vines and Ginsey.
