The details for two different soundtrack albums for Spike Lee’s indie drama Red Hook Summer have been revealed. First up is a soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by Judith Hill. The album will be released on July 31, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full track list and audio clips are available after the jump. Coming out on the same day is a soundtrack featuring the film’s music by Bruce Hornsby who makes his major film scoring debut on the project. Red Hook Summer written and directed by Lee enters on a boy from Atlanta who lands at the Red Hook housing project in Brooklyn to spend the summer with the grandfather he’s never met. Richard Hartley Scoring Mike Newell’s ‘Great Expectations’

Richard Hartley has composed the score for Mike Newell’s upcoming film adaptation of Great Expectations. The film based on Charles Dickens’ famous novel stars Jeremy Irvine as the young orphan Pip who is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Helena Bonham Carter co-stars as Miss Havisham, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Outhwaite, David Walliams and Holliday Grainger. Hans Zimmer at ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ European Premiere

Hans Zimmer attended today’s European premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises at Leicester Square in London. Red Carpet News TV caught the composer on the red carpet and talked to him about his music and process of scoring the final installment in Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Joss Whedon announced at a panel at last week’s Comic-Con that he has composed his first full film score for the independent production Much Ado About Nothing. The film written and directed by Whedon is a modern version of Shakespeare’s classic comedy and stars Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof (Angel) as Beatrice and Benedick, the world’s least likely lovers headed for their inevitable tumble into love. Nathan Fillion (Castle, Serenity), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods, Dollhouse), Reed Diamond (Moneyball), Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Sean Maher (Firefly) are co-starring in the Bellwether Pictures production. Laurent Eyquem to Score Ron Maxwell’s ‘Copperhead’

Laurent Eyquem has signed on to score the upcoming Civil War-era drama Copperhead. The film is directed by Ron Maxwell and stars Billy Campbell, Angus MacFadyen and Peter Fonda. The movie based on the epic novel by Harold Frederic and adapted by Bill Kauffman examines the price of dissent amid the hysteria of wartime, as a family is ripped apart by American Civil War-events. Maxwell is producing the Swordspoint Production and John Houston is co-producing. Recording sessions for the music are scheduled to take place in October at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. Studios. Maxwell has earned a reputation in the film music community for his highly effective use of music in his movies. His previous Civil War-themed projects include 1993’s Gettysburg, which was scored by Randy Edelman whose bestselling soundtrack was used in dozens of trailers throughout the 90s, as well as 2003’s Gods and Generals, which featured a critically acclaimed score by John Frizzell and Edelman. ‘Trouble with the Curve’ to Feature Music by Marco Beltrami

Marco Beltrami is currently scoring the drama Trouble with the Curve. The film is directed by Robert Lorenz and stars Clint Eastwood as an aging baseball scout who is losing his sight and takes a road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to take a look at a hot prospect. Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood are also starring. Robert Brown wrote the film’s script. The project marks the directorial debut of Lorenz who has previously produced most of Eastwood’s movies over the last decade including Mystic River, Letters from Iwo Jima and Gran Torino. Herrick Entertainment and Groundswell Productions have announced that Jenny Lewis will be writing the score for the upcoming indie drama Very Good Girls. The film marks the directorial debut of Naomi Foner and stars Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen as two lifelong best friends, both determined to lose their virginity as a rite of passage into the adult world. When they fall in love with the same boy, their quest threatens to tear their relationship apart. Boyd Holbrook, Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Barkin, Kiernan Shipka and Peter Sarsgaard are co-starring. Foner whose previous credits as a screenwriter include Running on Empty, Losing Isiah and Bee Season has also written the film’s script. Herrick Herrick (Vanishing on 7th Street), Michael London (Sideways, House of Sand and Fog) and Mary Jane Skalski (The Visitor, The Station Agent) are producing the project. Edward Shearmur Scoring ‘Spinning Plates’

Edward Shearmur has recently recorded his score for the upcoming documentary Spinning Plates. The film is directed by Joseph Levy and centers on three restaurants – including a cutting-edge restaurant named the sixth best in the world, an 150-year-old family restaurant and a fledgling Mexican restaurant – extraordinary for what they are today as well as the challenges they have overcome. Levy is also producing the Ambush Entertainment production with Miranda Bailey (Super, The Oh in Ohio), Matthew Leutwyler (Answers to Nothing) and Jacqueline Lesko. Gabriel Yared has recently scored the French comedy Haute Cuisine (Les saveurs du Palais). The film is directed by Christian Vincent and stars Catherine Frot and French novelist Jean D’Ormesson. The movie is based on the true story of Danièle Delpeuch who was the private cook to late French President, François Mitterrand and follows a renowned chef who is appointed by the president as his personal cook. Vincent has co-written the project’s script with Etienne Comar (Of Gods and Men).
