Nico Muhly is currently scoring the upcoming drama Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. The project reunites the composer with director Stephen Daldry, for whom he previously scored the Academy Award-nominated 2008 drama The Reader starring Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close stars Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, Viola Davis, Jeffrey Wright and Max von Sydow. The movie is based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer and centers on a 9-year-old boy who finds a key in a vase that belongs to his father – who perished in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks – and searches to find the lock that goes with it. Expanded ‘1941’ Soundtrack by John Williams Released

La-La Land Records has released a new 2-CD set of the soundtrack for Steven Spielberg’s 1979 movie 1941. The album includes the remastered and expanded score composed by John Williams. The soundtrack is expanded by more than 70 minutes of previously unreleased music and also includes the content of the original 1979 soundtrack album. Bear McCreary’s ‘The Cape’ Score Released

La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for the NBC superhero drama The Cape. The 2CD-set includes selections of the original score from the show by composer Bear McCreary. More than 150 minutes of music is included on the 2 disc release, which is limited to 2000 copies. Sony Classical will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the critically acclaimed romance The Artist. The album includes the score from the movie by composer Ludovic Bource. Atlantic Records has announced the track list of the soundtrack release for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The album includes one track from the score by Carter Burwell whose music has recently been recorded. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include The Joy Formidables, Angus & Julia Stone, Bruno Mars, Sleeping at Last, Christina Perri, Iron & Wine, Cider Sky and Mia Maestro. Reinhold Heil, Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer have recently written and recorded music for the director’s upcoming sci-fi feature Cloud Atlas. The movie written and co-directed by Andy & Lana Wachowski and Tykwer stars Tom Hanks, Jim Sturgess, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Keith David, Ben Whishaw and Jim Broadbent. The film based on the novel by David Mitchell intertwines six stories spanning different times that sees one character shaped from a murderer to a savior. Stefan Arndt (Run Lola Run) and Philip Lee are producing with Tykwer and the Wachowskis. Heil and Klimek have been collaborating with Tykwer on the music for most of the director’s previous features, most recently on the Clive Owen- and Naomi Watts-starring thriller The International and the German language film 3. MovieScore Media has announced a soundtrack release for last year’s historical drama Princess Kaiulani. The album features the original score from the film composed by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love). The music is performed by the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released on CD and digitally on October 11, 2011. Princess Kaiulani is the feature directing debut of Marc Forby and tells the true story of Princess Ka’iulani’s attempts to maintain the independence of Hawaii against the threat of American colonization at the end of the 19th century. The album features the orginal score by composers Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil, as well as the song Turkish Acid Bath by the English rock band Kasabian.
