‘ParaNorman’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the stop-motion animated film ParaNorman have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Magnolia). The soundtrack will be released on August 14, 2012 by Relativity Music Group and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. ParaNorman directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler follows a boy who is the only person in a small town that has the abilities to prevent an attack from zombies. The film’s voice cast includes Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Lyle Workman has announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming action comedy Stand Up Guys. The film is directed by actor/director Fisher Stevens who received an Academy Award for his documentary The Cove and stars Al Pacino and Christopher Walken as two aging criminals, one of whom has been hired to kill his friend. They decide to enjoy one last night of debauchery, but also face the choices they made in their lives. Alan Arkin, Julianna Margulies, Vanessa Ferlito and Katheryn Winnick are co-starring in the comedy. Noah Hydle has written the script and Sidney Kimmel (The Lincoln Lawyer, Lars and the Real Girl), Gary Lucchessi (Underworld, Crank), Tom Rosenberg (Million Dollar Baby) and Jim Tauber are producing the Simmy Kimmel Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment production. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete soundtrack for the 1994 superhero film The Shadow directed by Russall Mulcahy and starring Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Ian McKellen and Peter Boyle. The 2-CD release features both the film’s complete original score composed by Jerry Goldsmith, as well as the original 1994 soundtrack album, which includes selections of the composer’s score, as well as a couple of songs, among them Taylor Dane’s Original Sin. Cinema Musica has published audio clips from all tracks on the soundtrack release for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s score composed by James Newton Howard who previously collaborated with the director on Michael Clayton and Duplicity. Also included is a new version of Moby’s Extreme Ways, which is used again in the end credits as in the previous films in the series. Check out the audio clips embedded aftet the jump. Lucas Vidal has started to work on the music for the upcoming biopic jOBS. The drama stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and covers the iconic Silicon Valley visionary from his early years as an impressionable youth and wayward hippie, through his initial successes and infamous ousting, to his storybook return and ultimate triumphs as a man who set out to change the world and did just that. The film is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and co-stars Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs) as Apple co-founder Steve Woznikak and Matthew Modine will be portraying John Sculley, Apple’s CEO from 1983 to 1993. Dermot Mulroney, Ahna O’Reilly, Ron Eldard, John Getz, Lesley Ann Warren and James Woods are also starring in the drama. Matt Whiteley has written the screenplay and Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Russell Carpenter (Titanic) is also involved in the project. Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have composed the score for the indie comedy Bachelorette. The comedy is written and directed by Leslye Headland (Terriers) and stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan as three best friends who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school. James Marsden, Adam Scott, Rebel Wilson and Kyle Bornheimer are co-starring in the comedy produced Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Jessica Elbaum for Gary Sanchez Productions. Feltenstein and Nau have previously scored the production company’s Spanish-language comedy Casa De Mi Padre starring Ferrell. Bachelorette premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival back in January and featured a different score by composer Michael Wandmacher. The Weinstein Company’s Radius label picked up rights for the film and is planning a release on iTunes on August 10 followed by a theatrical release on September 6. Read the rest of this entry »

Opening in over 4000 theaters is the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. Watertower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. For audio clips and the full album details, visit our previous article. The composer and app developer RjDj have created the app The Dark Knight Rises Z+ for iPhone and iPod touch. The app is available in iTunes app store and includes a special “Origins” pack that features an extra 55 minutes of music and allows users to download an exclusive behind-the-scenes discussion with Zimmer and Nolan. Opening in limited release is the documentary The Queen of Versailles directed by Lauren Greenfield about a billionaire couple who live in a 90,000-square-foot mansion inspired by Versailles, built on the success of the time-share industry. Jeff Beal (Appaloosa, HBO’s Rome) has composed the film’s score. A soundtrack album featuring Beal’s music has been released digitally on Lakeshore Records. ‘Little Birds’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack for the indie drama Little Birds. The album features the film’s music including tracks by the film’s director Elgin James & The Suicide Gang, Tift Merritt, Linée, Big Star and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Little Birds is written and directed by Elgin James and stars Juno Temple, Kay Panabaker, Kyle Gallner, Chris Coy, Carlos Pena, Neal McDonough, JR Bourne, Kate Bosworth and Leslie Mann. Dario Marianelli has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Hummingbird. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things) and stars Jason Statham as an Afghanistan veteran haunted by tragic events of the past who assumes the identity of an upper class Londoner. When his pregnant girlfriend is found dead, he uses his connections in the Chinese mob to find the man responsible Knight has also written the screenplay and Paul Webster (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice) who has worked with Marianelli a number of times before is producing the IM Global production. The details for two different soundtrack albums for Spike Lee’s indie drama Red Hook Summer have been revealed. First up is a soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by Judith Hill. The album will be released on July 31, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full track list and audio clips are available after the jump. Coming out on the same day is a soundtrack featuring the film’s music by Bruce Hornsby who makes his major film scoring debut on the project. Red Hook Summer written and directed by Lee enters on a boy from Atlanta who lands at the Red Hook housing project in Brooklyn to spend the summer with the grandfather he’s never met.
