Mowg is currently composing the music for the upcoming action thriller The Last Stand. The film is directed by Kim Jee-Woon (A Tale of Two Sisters, The Good, the Bad, the Weird) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the sheriff of the quiet US border town who is preparing to make a last stand to intercept a notorious drug baron from crossing the border. Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Zach Gilford, Jaimie Alexander, Genesis Rodriguez and Peter Stormare are co-starring. Andrew Knauser has written the screenplay and Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Red, Salt) is producing the film through Di Bonaventura Pictures. Milan Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the French drama Chicken with Plums. The album includes the film’s original score composed Olivier Bernet. The soundtrack will be released digitally in the US on August 28, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips from all tracks on the album. Milan previously released the album overseas under the film’s original title Poulet aux prunes. ‘Amour’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for Michael Haneke’s critically praised drama Amour have been announced. The album includes the classical music featured in the film performed by French pianist Alexandre Tharaud. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 21, 2012 and in the US on October 12 by Virgin Classics. (UPDATE: December 2012: A physical release is scheduled to be released on January 22, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon). Check out audio clips after the jump. Amour starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert centers on the final months in an elderly Parisian couple’s marriage. Atticus Ross is scoring the upcoming crime thriller Broken City. The film is directed by Allen Hughes (From Hell, Menace 2 Society) and stars Mark Wahlberg as a Brooklyn detective who is hired by a powerful politician, played by Russell Crowe, to identify his wife’s lover, who is subsequently found and killed. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper, Natalie Martinez, Alona Tal, Jeffrey Wright, Justin Chambers, James Ransone and Griffin Dunne are co-starring. Brian Tucker has written the screenplay and Wahlberg and Hughes are producing the New Regency and Emmett/Furla Films co-production with Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, Righteous Kills) and Stephen Levinson (Contraband, Entourage). Allen Hughes has previously collaborated with Ross on the 2010 post-apocalyptic film The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington and on the TV series Touching Evil. Varese Sarabande Records has announced two new soundtrack albums. First up is a soundtrack for the Clint Eastwood-starring drama Trouble with the Curve. The albums features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami, as well as the original song On My Way (To The Big Time) by Randy Brown. ‘Breaking Bad’ Score Album Announced

Madison Gate Records will release a new soundtrack album for AMC’s critically acclaimed TV drama Breaking Bad. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Dave Porter from all five seasons of the Emmy Award-winning series, as well as never-before-heard music and extended versions of fan-favorite cues. Abel Korzeniowski Recording the Score for ‘Escape from Tomorrow’

Abel Korzeniowski has recently recorded his orchestral score for the romantic fantasy drama Escape from Tomorrow. The film is written and directed by Randy Moore and follows a middle-aged father whose sanity is challenged by a chance encounter with two young women on holiday. Roy Abrahmson (Showtime’s Weeds), Elena Schuber, Katelynn Rodriguez, Jack Dalton, Danielle Safany, Annet Mahendru and Alison Lees-Taylor are starring in the movie. Gioia Marchese is producing the project for Mankurt Media. The Golden Globe-nominated composer (A Single Man, W.E.) recorded his score at Warner Bros.’ Eastwood Scoring Stage. ‘Bad Karma’ Soundtrack Released

Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for the thriller Bad Karma. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bryce Jacobs, including the score, as well as eight songs featuring Genevieve Maynard, Anthony Snape and Fiona Kernaghan. The soundtrack is being released digitally today and is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. Bad Karma is directed by Suri Krishnamma (Wuthering Heights) and stars Ray Liotta as an ex-pat American who teams up with Australian gangster and drug dealer Mack for a large scale heroin shipment hijack. John Williams to Receive Classic Brit Award

John Williams will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Classic Brit Awards. The composer who celebrated his 80th birthday this year will be the first film composer to receive the lifetime achievement award in the award ceremony’s 13-year history. The full list of nominations will be announced on September 6 and the award ceremony will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on October 2, 2012.
