Brad Bird has confirmed in recent interview with THR that Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jurassic World, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will compose the original music for the director’s next animated feature, Ray Gunn. The movie is being described as a “detective film in an alternate future” and has been in development since 1990s. Bird (The Iron Giant) co-wrote the original screenplay with Matthew Robbins (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Mimic). Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars), David Ellison (Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Dana Goldberg (The Old Guard, The Tomorrow War) are producing the project for Skydance Animation.

‘The Iron Giant’ Deluxe Edition Score Album to Be Released
Varese Sarabande will release a new soundtrack album for the 1999 animated feature The Iron Giant co-written and directed by Brad Bird and starring Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick, Jr., Vin Diesel, James Gammon and Cloris Leachman. The album features the expanded original score from the Warner Bros. Feature Animation production composed by Academy Award nominee Michael Kamen (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, X-Men, Die Hard, The Three Musketeers, Lethal Weapon, Mr. Holland’s Opus), including previously unreleased music and cues not used in the film. The Deluxe Edition soundtrack will released digitally and physically tomorrow, March 11. Michael Giacchino to Collaborate with Brad Bird on Original Musical
Brad Bird revealed in an interview with Variety on the red carpet at this year’s BAFTA Tea Party this past Saturday that he is collaborating with composer Michael Giacchino on an original musical, which will be the director’s next project and will contain about 20 minutes of animation. No other details have been announced yet. Giacchino has previously composed the original score for Bird’s last five features, The Incredibles, Ratatouille (for which the composer received an Academy Award nomination), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Tomorrowland and last year’s Incredibles 2.

Brad Bird announced today on Twitter that Michael Giacchino has signed on to compose the music for Pixar’s upcoming sequel The Incredibles 2. The composer was previously attached and expected to score the film given his involvement in the original movie, as well as Bird’s other last three features, Ratatouille, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. No plot details and casting announcements have been made yet for the sequel. The project will mark Giacchino’s sixth project for Pixar Animation Studios.

Michael Giacchino to Score Brad Bird’s ‘Tomorrowland’
Michael Giacchino confirmed during a Q&A at a concert featuring the world premiere performance of his Star Trek score performed live to projection in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he is attached to score Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland. The film is set to star George Clooney and Hugh Laurie. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but according to Hitfix, the movie is supposed to follow a “teenage girl, a genius middle-aged manand a pre-pubescent girl robot who attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth”. Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus) is writing the screenplay with Bird based on a concept by himself and Jeff Jensen and is also producing the project with Bird. Tomorrowland will mark the composer’s fourth collaboration with Bird following Pixar’s The Incredibles & Ratatouille and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
