Walt Disney Records to Release Christophe Beck’s ‘Paperman’ Score

Walt Disney Records will release the score for Disney’s animated short Paperman. The music is composed by Christophe Beck (The Muppets, The Hangover). The one-track single will be released digitally on December 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Paperman directed by John Kahrs and produced by John Lasseter follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. The black-and-white animated short is currently playing in theaters nationwide in front of Disney’s Wreck-It-Ralph and is among the 10 shorts up for an Academy Award in the Best Animated Short Film category. Julian Wass Scoring ‘The Pretty One’ and ‘Teddy Bears’

Julian Wass is scoring the upcoming indie comedy The Pretty One. The film is directed by Jenee LaMarque and stars Zoe Kazan as a young woman who is mistaken for her dead “perfect” identical twin and seizes the chance to masquerade as her sister. Jake Johnson (New Girl) and Ron Livingston are co-starring. The project marks the feature directorial debut of LaMarque who has also written the screenplay. Robin Schorr (Peaceful Warrior) is producing through RCR Pictures and Steven J. Berger is producing for Provenance Pictures. ‘Not Fade Away’ Soundtrack Details

ABKCO Records will release a soundtrack album for David Chase’s drama Not Fade Away. The album features the songs from the film by such artists as James Brown, The Rolling Stones, The Twylight Zones, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, The Sex Pistols and The Rascals. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Not Fade Away written and directed by Chase (The Sopranos) stars James Gandolfini, John Magaro, Jack Huston, Will Brill, Bella Heathcote, Brad Garrett and Christopher McDonald. The film is set in 1964 and follows three best friends from the suburbs of New Jersey who decide to form a rock band. The movie will be released in select cities on December 21, 2012. ‘Californication’ Season 6 Soundtrack Announced

Entertainment One Music will release a new soundtrack album for the Showtime original series Californication. The album features songs from the sixth season of the show by artists including Steve Jones, Marilyn Manson, The Blind Pets, Ryan Adams, Joe Walsh, Lissie, Johnny Thunders, Warren Zevon and Tim Minchin. The soundtrack will be released on January 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out the full track list after the jump. Californication stars David Duchovny as a troubled novelist who moves from New York to California and suffers from writer s block which complicates his relationships with his girlfriend and daughter. Rob Simonsen Scoring ‘The Way, Way Back’

Rob Simonsen has been hired to score the indie comedy The Way, Way Back. The film marks the directorial debut of Jim Rash and Nat Faxon and stars Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, AnnaSophia Robb, Allison Janney and Amanda Peet. The movie follows a teen boy who struggles to find himself as he comes to terms with his unattentive mother and cheating stepfather during summer vacation. Rash and Faxon who received an Academy Award for writing last year’s The Descendants have penned the screenplay. Kevin Walsh is producing through his production company and Tom Rice is producing for Sycamore Pictures. ‘Black Rock’ to Feature Music by Ben Lovett

Ben Lovett is writing a new score for the indie horror thriller Black Rock. The film is directed by Katie Aselton (The Freebie) who also stars in the film alongside Lake Bell, Kate Bosworth, Will Bouvier, Jay Paulson and Anslem Richardson. The movie follows three friends who are going on a weekend getaway to an isolated island in Maine and discover that they are not alone. Mark Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home) has written the screenplay and is also executive producing with his brother Jay. Adele Romanski is producing the project. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it featured a different score by Peter Golub as reported earlier this year. ‘Zambezia’ Soundtrack Released

Triggerfish has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature Zambezia. The album features the film’s original large-orchestral score composed by Bruce Retief, which was recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Also included are original songs by Zolani Mohani and Gang of Instrumentals. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Zambezia is directed by Wayne Thornley and features the voice talent of Jeremy Suarez, Abigail Breslin, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy and Samuel L. Jackson. The South African animated film follows a young flying daredevil falcon who leaves to join the Hurricane defense flyers.
