shieldBear McCreary has been tapped to score Marvel’s highly anticipated TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. The show from executive producers Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) marks Marvel’s first television series. Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost) also serve as executive producers of the ABC Studios and Marvel Television production. The show stars Clark Gregg who reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films and follows him as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennett are co-starring. Whedon also directed the pilot episode. breathe-inUPDATED in March 2014 with U.S. release info: Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Drake Doremus’ indie drama Breathe In. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dustin O’Halloran who previously collaborated with the director on the 2011 indie Like Crazy. The soundtrack will be released on March 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Like Crazy is written and directed by Drake Doremus and stars Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan and Mackenzie Davis. The movie about a high school teacher who is tempted to cheat on his wife with one of his students premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in the UK on July 19. The film is written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Friends with Money, Lovely & Amazing) and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini in his final role, as well as Catherine Keener, Toni Collette, Ben Falcone, Eve Hewson and fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson. The movie follows a divorced soon-to-be empty-nester as she humorously tries to secretly juggle two relationships and wonders whether her new favorite friend’s disastrous ex can be her cue for happiness. star-trek-insurrectionGNP Crescendo has announced a new expanded soundtrack collector’s edition for the sci-fi film Star Trek: Insurrection. The album features the film’s complete original score composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith, including a half hour more music than the original 1998 CD and several alternates for a total running time of over 79 minutes. The soundtrack will be released on August 6, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on the label’s official website. GNP has recently released expanded soundtrack editions for other movies in the Star Trek series, including Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First ContactStar Trek: Insurrection directed by Jonathan Franks and starring himself, as well as Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, F. The film’s original score is composed by David Lawrence (American Pie, Van Wilder, Jericho) who previously scored all three parts of Disney’s High School Musical series. The pirate adventure is created by Jon Steinberg (Jericho) & Robert Levine (Touch) follows the tales of Captain Flin and his men twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island. The show’s cast includes Toby Stephens, Luke Arnold, Zach McGowan, Toby Schmitz, Hannah New, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Clara Paget, Tom Hopper and Mark Ryan. Steinberg is executive producing the series with Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller & Andrew Form (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Purge, Friday the 13th). turbo-scoreRelativity Music Group will release a score album for Dreamworks Animation’s feature Turbo. The album features the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (Wreck-It-Ralph, Puss in Boots). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 23, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, the label will also release a regular edition soundtrack album featuring the film’s songs and selections of the score, as well as a deluxe edition including additional score tracks. Turbo is directed by David Soren and features the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

pacific-rimOpening in the US and select international territories is the sci-fi action monster movie Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi and Ron Perlman. The film’s music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Iron Man, Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, which also features former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and singer Priscilla as soloists. grown-ups-2Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Grown Ups 2 directed by Dennis Dugan and starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello and Nick Swardson. The film’s original score is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Over the Hedge, Click, Bee Movie) who previously scored the 2010 original film. No soundtrack album has been announced. The album features the film’s original score composed by Andrew Lockington (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). Also included is the song I Feel Alive by IAMEVE. The movie is based on the bestselling young adult novel by James Dashner and is set in a post-apocalyptic era where a group of teenage boys trapped in an enormous maze seek their freedom. The film is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Patricia Clarkson, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Jacob Lattimore, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper and Aml Ameen. Noah Oppenheim wrote the screenplay for the Temple Hill Entertainment and the Gotham Group production. The movie marks Paesano’s first major studio feature film project.
