foxmusicTwentieth Century Fox has hired music supervisor Anton Monsted as senior vice president of Fox Music. Monsted was previously general manager of Baz Luhrmann’s production company, Bazmark, and most recently served as executive music supervisor and co-producer of the director’s The Great Gatsby, co-producing the three soundtrack albums for the film. Monsted previously collaborated with Luhrmann on his three previous films for 20th Century Fox and their soundtrack album releases, including William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and Australia. The announcement was made by Danielle Diego, Head of Fox Music.

matrix-reloadedLa-La Land Records has announced the details of a new soundtrack edition for the Wachowski siblings’ 2003 sci-fi action sequel The Matrix Reloaded starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. The album features the expanded and remastered score from the film composed by Don Davis (Jurassic Park 3, Bound, Antitrust) who also composed the music for the other two parts of The Matrix trilogy. Davis collaborated with Ben Watkins (aka Juno Reactor) on a couple of tracks that are also included on the release. The original 2003 soundtrack album featured less than half of the score featured in the Warner Bros. Pictures production. wyatt-earpLa-La Land Records has released a new limited soundtrack edition for Warner Bros. Pictures’ 1994 western Wyatt Earp directed by Lawrence Kasdan and starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid and Gene Hackman. The 3-CD set features the expanded film score composed by James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense, The Hunger Games, King Kong) on the first two discs, as well as bonus and source cues and the original 1994 soundtrack album edits on the third disc. The release, which was supervised by the composer and producer/actor Kevin Costner is limited to 3000 copies. raf-keunenRaf Keunen is reteaming with director Michael R. Roskam to score the upcoming crime thriller Animal Rescue. The film stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Gandolfini and John Ortiz. The movie is based on a short story by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island) and follows a lonely Boston bartender who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog’s abusive and mentally unstable former owner. Lehane has also written the screenplay and Peter Chernin & Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Oblivion) are producing the project for Chernin Entertainment, alongside Mike Larocca. winnie-mandelaRCA Records will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Winnie Mandela. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Laurent Eyquem (Copperhead). Also featured is the original end credits song Bleed for Love performed by Jennifer Hudson, written by Diane Warren and orchestrated, arranged and co-produced by Eyquem. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. the-best-man-holidayStanley Clarke is reuniting with director Malcolm D. Lee on the upcoming comedy The Best Man Holiday. The film stars Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall who all reprise their roles from the 1999 hit film, which marked Lee’s directorial debut. The movie follows the group of college friends as they reunite over the Christmas holidays. Lee has also written the screenplay amd is producing the project with Sean Daniel (The Mummy series, Dazed and Confused, The Wolfman). poltergeist-2Kritzerland has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1986 horor sequel Poltergeist II: The Other Side directed by Brian Gibson and starring Craig T. Nelson, Jobeth Williams, Oliver Robins, Heather O’Rourke and Zelda Rubinstein. The music is composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown) who received an Oscar nomination for the original Poltergeist film. The 2-CD set features the complete film scores, as well as a number of track, including an alternate version of one of the new cues making its first appearance on the release. silkPremiering tonight on PBS as part of Masterpiece Theater is the British drama series Silk created by Peter Moffat and starring Maxine Peake, Rupert Penry-Jones, Neil Stuke, Tom Hughes, Natalie Dormer, Nina Sosanya and John MacMillan. The show’s original music is composed by Dru Masters. Silk follows two barristers on their journey to join the rank of Queen’s Counsel, known as ‘taking silk’. The legal drama premiered in the UK on BBC in 2011 and was renewed for a second season aired last year. PBS will air the show’s first season of six episodes. The 10 episode series marks the television debut of filmmaker and playwright Neil LaBute (Lakeview Terrace, In the Company of Men, Nurse Betty) and examines the human condition and relationships through a series of conversations between 11 people whose lives, unbeknownst to them, are intertwined. The show’s cast includes Tom Felton, Minka Kelly, Julian McMahon, David Boreanaz, Keke Palmer, Devon Gearhart, Billy Campbell, Kate Walsh, Cheyenne Jackson, Noah Silver, Ally Sheedy and Robin Weigert. mortal-instruments-scoreAlready in theaters since this past Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones directed by Harald Zwart and starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Turner, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand and Jared Harris. Republic Records has released a soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including Zedd, Jessie J, AFI and Demi Lovato. Check out our previous article for the full details.
