Sony Music will release a soundtrack album for the upcoming animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valour. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, The Young Victoria). Also included is the original song Heroes performed by Rebecca Ferguson. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 9, 2013. Justin and the Knights of Valour is directed by Manuel Sicilia and features the voice talent of Freddie Highmore, Saoirse Ronan, Charles Dance, Rupert Everett, Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Alfred Molina, Julie Walters, Tamsin Egerton and Olivia Williams. The movie follows an idealistic boy who is determined to become a knight in shining armor, but his magical kingdom is in painful transition to a modern age dominated by bureaucracy. Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the heist drama Empire State. The album features the film’s original score composed by David Wittman (Fighting, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, The Son of No One). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article in a few weeks. Empire State is directed by Dito Montiel and stars Liam Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Emma Roberts, Nikki Reed, Chris Diamantopoulos, Michael Angarano, Jerry Ferrara, Shenae Grimes, Paul Ben-Victor and Greg Vrotsos. Michael Brook has scored the upcoming biopic Chavez. The movie is helmed by actor-turned director Diego Luna (Abel) and stars Michael Pena as Cesar E. Chavez and follows the Mexican-American labor leader as he organizes the largest non-violent protest in U.S. history to accomplish his ultimate goal of obtaining basic human rights for over 50,000 farm workers in California. America Ferrera stars as his wife, Helen Chavez and Rosario Dawson portrays Dolores Huerta who co-founded the United Farm Workers of America. Wes Bentley, Gabriel Mann, Michael Cudlitz, Jacob Vargas, Yancey Arias and Mark Moses are co-starring. Keir Pearson (Hotel Rwanda) has written the screenplay. Luna is producing the Canana Films production with Gael Garcia Bernal & Pablo Cruz (Miss Bala), alongside John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon & Russell Smith (Juno, Young Adult) for Mr. Mudd, as well as Pearson and Larry Meli. Verve International has released a second soundtrack album for the hit drama Lee Daniels’ The Butler. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Gladys Knight, James Brown, Patti Drew, The Meditation Singers, Dean Martin, Shorty Long, Fantasia, Dinah Washington, The O-Jay’s and People’s Choice. Also included are two tracks from the film’s original score composed by Rodrigo Leão. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music as reported earlier this month. Benjamin Wallfisch has been tapped to score the BBC original movie The Thirteenth Tale. The film is based on Diane Setterfield’s novel of the same title and has been adapted for television by Academy Award-winning writer Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement, The Quiet American). The drama is directed by James Kent (The White Queen, Inside Men) and stars Vanessa Redgrave, Olivia Colman, Alexandra Roach, Robert Pugh, Gordon Winter, Sophie Turner and Antonia Clarke. The movie follows a famous novelist with failing health who enlists an amateur biographer to hear her story and ghostwrite her autobiography. The album features the film’s original score composed by Gil Talmi who recorded his music with a live orchestra at East West Studios in Los Angeles. Director James Gunn has confirmed on his Facebook page that Tyler Bates will be composing the score for Marvel’s upcoming superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy. The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillian, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace and Dave Bautista. Vin Diesel is also in talks to join the film’s cast. The movie based on the Marvel Comics characters created by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning follows a U.S pilot who bands with a group of ex-cons from other planets after he’s thrust in the middle of a universal conflict. Roque Banos has signed on to score the upcoming English-language remake of Oldboy. The film is directed by Spike Lee (Malcolm X, Inside Man) and stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley. The movie follows an advertising executive who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement and sets out to find out who held him hostage and why when he is inexplicably released. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Thor) wrote the screenplay based on Chan-wook Park’s acclaimed Korean film from 2003 and Roy Lee & Doug Davison (The Strangers, The Lake House) and Nathan Kahane (Juno, 50/50) are producing the project.
