According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Hans Zimmer has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chappie. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, as well as Sharlto Copley as the voice of the title character. The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. The sci-fi drama follows a covert U.S. space mission launched in the 1960’s that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the family movie Paddington. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ruby Sparks, I Love You Phillip Morris). Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including James Brown, Steppenwolf and Lionel Richie. Universal Pictures has published five tracks from the original score for Angelina Jolie’s epic drama Unbroken. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech). As reported earlier this week, Parlophone Records will release a soundtrack album featuring both Desplat’s score, as well as the original song Miracles written and performed by Coldplay. Andrew Hewitt has been hired to score the upcoming psychological thriller The Stanford Prison Experiment. The film is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez (C.O.G.) and stars Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, Nelsan Ellis, Ki Hong Lee, Tye Sheridan, Michael Angarano, Jack Kilmer and Nicholas Braun. The movie is based on the 1971 psychological exercise, for which randomly-chosen 19 and 20-year-old students were divided into camps of either prison guards or prisoners. Tim Talbott (Chicago Fire) has written the screenplay. Brent Emery is producing the project with Lizzie Friedman & Greg Little (Sex and Death 101), Karen Lauder (And Soon the Darkness), actor Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker) and Lauren Bratman (And While We Were Here). John Paesano has officially signed on to score the upcoming sequel The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials. Wes Ball returns to direct the second part in the series, which stars Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee and Patricia Clarkson who reprise their roles from the first part. They are joined by new cast members members Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar, Jacob Lofland, Barry Pepper and Lili Taylor. T.S.
