According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Hans Zimmer has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chappie. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, as well as Sharlto Copley as the voice of the title character. The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Universal Pictures has published five tracks from the original score for Angelina Jolie’s epic drama Unbroken. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech). As reported earlier this week, Parlophone Records will release a soundtrack album featuring both Desplat’s score, as well as the original song Miracles written and performed by Coldplay.
